Taz how and where did you score the sweet Euro Spec GP Recaros? I love them!!
The original R53 JCW seats are Sparco I think. Based on Sparco Demon.

I am in Canada too and also have pined for a better seat in my JCW (for a longer lower seat cushion, but mostly for a lowered seating position)...

For those that have done an aftermarket seat / OEM JCW seat swap to their R53, any advice on difficulty of getting the right mounting bracket? Are there any truly "plug and play" aftermarket seats + brackets aside from JCW parts imported from overseas?

I called recaro a year or two ago, and they will ship the recaro branded seats to the US, but without airbags. The airbags apparently haven't been dot approved or something, and to avoid any lawsuits, they will not ship them to the US with airbags. If you wanted you could get the seats and brackets and either ditch the side impact bags, or find a company you trust to install DOT side impact bags in the seats in the US or canada.

LOL! try $1600 per seat before shipping and import duties.
