Ummmm.....nah

So, alot of us have done mods to our MINIs. What mod, if any, have you done, stood back to admire your hadnywork, cocked your head to one side and and thought, Nah. Did you take it off or just leave it try to live with it.

Mine was minor. I bought the sunvisor CD holder. After I put it I realized how impractical it was and took it out two days later. I also realized that I would storing a bunch of music on my Garmin and using a CD was so 1980's .

Oh I almost forgot. The JCW shift knob. After living with for a year, I just didn't like how it felt so I replaced it with a Whalen Shift Machine

But anyway her are what I did on mine
JCW Stage 1 Tuning Kit
17" light wheels
17" non-runflat Michelin Pilot Plus A/S
Body Color Vinyl wraps for head and tail lights, grill surround and [soon] gas cap
Whalen E-brake handle
Kuda mount
Center Console rubber cubby tray
Chrome door pulls from Moss MINI
Auto-open Sunroof
Auto-on Sport button
A/C side marker stickers in balck
Chrome line blackout.
OEM saddle bag.
Slime Flat repair kit.
OEM rubber boot mat.

I might do more but I may be finished. What about you guys?

One easy, the other a little more difficult... I tried the magnetic black plastic pieces in front of the rear wheel well, didn't like that. They are on a shelf in the garage. Also, I ordered anthracite R-99 wheels, but didn't like the way they looked on the pepper white Mini. Was able to sell them for what I had in them, but lost on the shipping. Just have the regular S-"heavies" on now. I would get the bright silver R-99's but I'm too cheap now, and currently out of a job!

I sort of feel this way with my blacked out side scuttles and gas cap that I painted this weekend. I thought I might of made a mistake doing it for about a day, then after seeing them in a different light they grew on me.

Now the only problem is that I need to paint the door handles It sure looks like a whole lot of work to remove them to paint...

Used Lamin-X on my rear Tails and Fogs...

Liked it for a good 6 months and realized it looked to racey, cheap, tacky...so I peeleed them off. Looks much better in the red, plus the difference in light was huge and my lamin-X wasn't even that dark!

Live and learn...

Isn't this thread essentially about mods you kinda wished you hadn't done? That's a lot of mods to regret right there!

Removing mods

Hi,
I have stripes on the hood of my car and I don't like them - never did but the price was right. Wondering if I can take them off, how to take them off, and if there is a difference in paint color - how to even it out. Thanks.

Oh, my mini is pepper white.

Wow! Your car looks awesome. How much did it cost to change the grill and was it hard to do?

I got the rear bumper protector but didn't install it after I realized it's basically a thick sticker. Was hoping for something more solid than that.

Also got the gominigo gps mount and that didn't quite work out for me either... Fortunately I was able to sell it quickly on the marketplace!

@ sketch. read silly...

maxymini - stripes are easy to take off with a little heat (hairdryer) and some patience. a good cleaning (and claybaring) should finish it off so that you don't notice a thing. search around as there a a few more detailed threads about this exact topic. good luck!
