What should I do with my arches?

I really don't know what to do with my arches.

1) I don't want to color code them because I just think all Dark Silver looks "off". I don't know what it is, but it doesn't have the same appeal as other colors.

2) I was thinking maybe a gloss black to compliment the mirrors and roof, but then I'm thinking it may be drawing too much attention to the arches.

3) Possibly a bit darker grey than the car?

Any other options? I am just at a loss here.

Dunno Duck,

I have the same exact set up as you and posted a thread last year on two tone color photos for trim and body. No responses came so apparently it's an area not ventured yet.

I ride the fence painting them too and feel that mod would look so much better if these parts were blended in with some body filler and then painted so they didn't look so bolt on. But then you would have issues removing the side skirts and rear bumper when need be......

I have the same car, personally I like it as it is, though I have installed european arches that dont have reflectors into them.

But a friend of mine has painted his arches color match and I actually like it, matter of taste I guess. Also a member here (Red Bull) had his arches painted gloss black, here is a pic if you haven't seen it...

My opinion is color match, a different tone of grey might be nice too (and more original), maybe get somebody to Photoshop it for you (unless you can of course)

Ha! Excuse me, I believe (and others involved in this thread) dark grey is the best color!

It's not so much the bolt on look that bothers me. I don't think that's too bad, but obviously yes a clean body would be nice. I feel like it wants to be something smooth to get away from the textured paint. That could set it off a bit. If I painted them something a little darker than dark silver I'm afraid it may be too close to black or somethng.

Man, I just don't know. It's tough.

LOVE THAT CAR! Always have. But the gloss black arches REALLY draw attention to them and I'm not sure if I want that much attention to the arches, you know?

I'll do some photoshopping for you. Making some shells n' cheese right now but afterwards I will get started. Is there anything specific you want to see?

OK, after doing a little work I think the only choice you have is body-color or black. The pic above is DS arches on a PS car. I like that, but I think the opposite will look strange. If you don't want to accent the arches I really think DS is the color for you. I found lots of pictures on here that are color-matched perfectly.

Check out this thread http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...-color-12.html

Sorry I didn't come through with the photoshopping...The way I change colors can't make the arches glossy, so it all looks bad.

Good luck!

Dang, I was hoping the photoshopping would work for you. I can't figure out how to make the arches look glossy in photoshop. But I am curious how the dark grey would look.

I have yet to find a dark silver with dark silver arches that "blows me away". It certainly doesn't look bad, but I would rather keep the arches the way they are before changing them to dark silver.

OK, so as long as you are alright with this not being your car, these might help you.

This is darker than body color...

slightly darker...

I'm not sure what I clicked to change to this, but I think it was a happy accident...

I hope these help. Thanks to whomever's car this is.

Honestly there's only two ways to go, keep as is or paint them Dark Silver. I've always contemplated this as well, I feel like Dark Silver is one of the few colors that painted arches doesn't always look good. I change my mind all the time about wanting to paint my trim DS...

Thanks a lot for taking the time to do that for me! AHHHHH IT'S KILLING ME! After looking at those photoshops, I'm almost thinking ANY gloss color would be too much. I'm thinking I may just leave them and put the money towards somethng else.

Maybe I'll just sleep on it!
