Quick ? about snowboard rack!!!!!

I have some quick questions before i make my final order.

I cant find the thread i was looking at before that was talking about this set up =/

And i cant quite remember if it was bad or good reviews. So please help so i can order it just in time. Seasons already coming in Mammoth just opened today!

Will these work with eachother? Does it require drilling or does it attach right on?

Will i need anything else, or do i just buy those two? And im all set..?

Has anyone tried putting 4 snowboards on it? 2 up and 2 faced down?

Does this make alot of wind noise?

Are you guys happy with this set up?

Thanks for the input!

Chris

Chris,

I would suggest getting the OEM rack from the dealer in is much better made to fit the car properly. I have a clubman and was one of the first testing cars used by Thule to mount their racks to the cars. Their setup does not lock into the rack mounting point as they were degined. The Thule feet and hooks only catch on teh thin sheet metal of the roof panel and i have seen where they damaged/ripped the sheetmetal of the roof. the last thing you need is to have to have your roof fixed becuase the rack tore it up. Afte the OEM rack base is on any Yakima or Thule parts will fit or can be adapted with extra kits to the OEM Rack. I have a Ski box, Kayak Racks and Bike racks that mount to the OEM rack just fine.

It's just the oem rack requires you to drill and what not right? is there any other base racks that would work good without any modification? it's just the fact you got to mod the rain gutter is stopping me from getting the oem =\

It it is a Gen 1 MINI this is correct. But on the Gen 2 MINI's which is where this thread is they mount to slots just above the Rain Gutter.

Go to you MINI Dealer and have one of the techs show you where the slots are just above the rain gutter. They are covered by a rubber lip on the car side of the gutter and part of that will be removed when the rack is first time installed and then after that there are little plastic covers that pop in place when the rack is not on the car. Have the parts department show you the rack part number as listed in this link., you sill find there is not part aht screws into the roof.

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=5277

Now with all that said my understanding is that some of the first month 2007 cars did not have the slots in the roof. Whether this is true or not I am not sure all the gen 2 coops that I have seen have had the slots.

Here is a link to a post with the instructions for mounting the OEM rack on a Clubman but the same procedure is used for a coop. check post one for the link to the instructions.
