As the result of an aborted break in, my driver's side exterior post was cracked. I have a factory replacement, but am uncertain as to how to remove, in proper fashion, as opposed to the idiotic ram a screw driver underneath and twist method used by the would be thief, the broken post and to then install the new post. Based on the new piece, it appears that it "pops" in to a series of holes in the frame, but I'm not certain how to get it out without damaging the rubber seals underneath between the windshield and the driver's side window. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You pretty much have to rip it off and not care when it cracks...because it will. The 'post' has plastic bits that slide into the 'post' and then you have to push the whole thing onto the car. The problem is, the plastic bits slide in at opposite directions. It looks like this when off...the black foam was added by me to replace the crap that tore off.
You may be able to salvage the plastic bits and re-use them. Mine stayed in the holes in the car and I carefully pried them out for re-use.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
