PIAA Super Silicone ?s

Posted this in what is probably the wrong area an haven't gotten any responses, so I'm trying here (which is also probably the wrong area... )

I just got the PIAA Super Silicone wipers from outmotoring.com, and I have put them on my car. And as they noted on the website, there is no "wind deflector" on the PIAAs like there were on the OEM wipers. Has anyone noticed any sort of effect from not having this so called "wind deflector" or have any notion of what that piece might actually be doing to help your driving experience? I can't think of any time in the rain this previous year I've noticed any wind deflection...?

Thanks!

The wind deflector on the wiper is totally useless.

No, the deflecter actually works very well when the wind is up and you are at speed. The wipers will tend to lift in a cross wind and the deflector will help in keeping it on the glass.

Is it absolutey needed, probably not.

I've just noticed a bit of a whistle when using the PIAA's at freeway speed. No problems staying on the windshield.

The PIAA Sporza has the spoiler on the 19" blade. I use the 19 in both sides with the spoiler and they work perfectly even though it calls for an 18 on the drivers side. Had 'em on for over 70,000 miles, changed them once and they are WONDERFUL.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. Sorry I took the weekend off from NAM so I couldn't get your replies.

I guess only the first rains will tell if I like the PIAA super silicone wipers then, as you all seem to have mixed reviews. So far I can't see any problem with them when using them to clean gunk off, so hopefully I'll like them in the rain.

I love my Silblades and they don't have the spoiler on them. Only problem is the drivers side will tend to lift a bit in a crosswind. But with the Aquapel it blows right off anyway......lol
