Replacing painting grey plastic CD / AC controls etc.

Has anyone replaced or painted the grey/silver plastic CD player, AC controls, window controls in the center of dash. I love the mini interior but I hate the cheap looking plastic and it's front and center.

Also the controls for the MFSW which are similarly cheap looking.

Thanks for your help and advice,

Sean

I haven't painted anything, but I did get something to surround that area and make it look a little more dressed up. I don't really think the interior looks cheap. I've heard other complaints about the MFSW buttons, but they don't bother me. I'd be interested to see anything you do to change the look though.

You would need some sort of die cut overlay. If you paint them you would lose the nighttime illumination of the icons.

Probably would be easier to find a vendor that is willing to make copies of the parts with the colors you want.

I think the set up and production costs would be too great. It is a mod I would like but I do not think that it will happen. Well maybe there will be better looking controls on Gen-3 in 2012

Thanks for the advice. Aluvendale that's a nice mod you have there. It makes the grey blend in more naturally.

After I get a current paint job done on a JCW kit, I plan on ripping apart most of my dash and painting a lot of. Except the brushed aluminum part of course...it's a ways out but i'll have before, during and after pics for those interested.
