Okay, I have read, searched, and read some more. I cannot seem to get the lens off my pre 05 xenons I have pried until i cant feel my finger tips, and i have baked in the oven several times starting at 230 and eventually up to 375 for 5mins. the stupid housing started melting to the cookie sheet. the lenses wont budge a millimeter. What's the trick? seems quite a few people have done this with the pre-facelift but no one reveals how they get the stupid lens off. i'm about ready to throw them both in the dumpster someone please help meh
From what I understand, use a heat gun instead of the oven. The gun will get the glue melting faster, plus you have constant heat vs. keep placing them back in the oven. Use a small thin screwdriver to pry the lens apart. I've never done this, but from my experience with heat guns, don't leave it aimed at one place for long or you will mess stuff up.
nope, just high heat, and lots of prying, cussing, blood, and tears lol. I was unaware of the 3 nubs holding the lens onto the plastic housing. So the first headlight took about a day and a half, the second took about 10mins.
Getting them apart is the hardest part.
I did the same thing. Lots of cussing and prying. I need to take one apart again to fix a mistake and to try to get things to sit a little more flush with the hood. It should be alot easier the second time.
No finished pics yet, still have to reattach the lenses and mount them on the car.
Jason C, thats what I'm trying to ensure right now, I removed all of the old adhesive so that the lens sits as far down into the groove as possible. i'll seal it with some black silicone
Yeah i was so glad when that mod was over...mine is an 02 mcs and it was an absolute ***** to get apart. just make sure you dont get any goo gone on the inside of the lenses cause it fogs them

Thats what I used, black ATV(?) silicone. It's worked great so far. No leaks.
I made the mistake of not allowing myself enough time to do this mod, and had to rush the re-assembly process. My one bit of advice would be to make sure the bulbs are straight when they go back in. One of my high beams went in crooked and I didn't notice it. After testing the lights out I noticed it had melted a small patch of the paint. No one notices it buy me, but it drives me crazy. Now that I've been talking about it, maybe it will motivate me to fix it.
Well there you go. That would take the pressure of time off you.
The one thing I have noticed, and I'm not sure if it was there all along and I just never saw it, but now I notice what kind of looks like spider webbing on the lenses. Hard to explain and only visible at night with the lights on. I've plastic polished them to no avail, so I assume it's on the inside.
