Stripe help plus steering wheel stripe

Here's what I'm looking to do with this thing. I'm going to be blacking out the ride but want to add a little something to it. Thinking of going with something similar to the stripe on the new ACR Viper. In addition I love the center stripe on the steering wheel. My favorite car to drive, the Challenge Stradale, has this along with a few other track cars.

I want the exterior stripe to run through the center of the steering wheel as in the picture below.

Would getting the dealer sport stripe in red fit off center like that? I'm figuring the fit is slightly different. Is there any extra that you cut away with the sport stripe? I'd get one set as I'm just going to use one single stripe.

Anyone have any idea of the best way to get the stripe on the steering wheel. I have the standard multifunction steering wheel.

Has anyone ever done anything like this before?

That's a pretty cool idea, actually.

I wouldn't do OEM stripes though. I would imagine if you want to take it all the way to the ground both ways that it won't work. I'd order it from Aesthetic Creations - they'll make it so it'll fit perfectly. The OEM stripes have a curvature to them that I would think would make trying to piece the project together really difficult.

I bet you could find a leather steering wheel cover to get the effect there...it'd probably be custom. I bet we have a vendor here that does them.

You can buy rolls of colored adhesive vinyl much cheaper and then you'll have plenty of material to work with extra for trial and error.

A quick search through the vendor list didn't locate anyone doing custom leather, or steering wheel covers. You could put a Wheelskins Euro Style wheel cover on upsidedown. Then get a stripe from Aesthetic Creations, or Cooper Flags to match the width.

Don't forget that the driver will have to be wearing a matching shirt or the whole effect will be blown! May need to paint your face, also. It does look great on the Viper!

That's not a red stripe, it's two big black ones.

I actually saw this done at the NY auto show early this year on another Viper. Was a dark silver with the red stripe through it. Fell in love then and there. Just wasn't going to work with the lines on my previous car.

dont order the sport stripes from the dealer... i did this and although it turned out nicely, you can get the same, if not better material from a sign supply store that sells vinyl. For around 70 bucks you can get somewhere like 10 yards of material... way more than you need and way more than enough to do some trial and error. believe me, if you DIY, you will have error.

Thanks for the heads up on the dealer sport stripes everyone.

Looks like vinyl it is.

Still trying to figure out the best option for the steering wheel.

p.s. picking it up in 5 hours.
