Yes, I'm curious too. I'm planning on doing some major paint protection film installation when my kit and raw un-cut 3M sheets come it.
I'm going to try to use some titanium scissors I purchase from a crafts store.

DIY John cooper works kits, stripping kits are really easy to fit if you have the right tool and instructions

Bonnet Stripes

Just placed an order with Aesthetic Creations. Bought the new cooper badge off ebay for $16.00. This will be a summertime project.

Had some time tonight, so....

... I installed my stripes. Turned out pretty nice. I too have some small bubbles, hope they work themselves out. Here's a pic:

Lookin' good!!

If, after a few days in the sun, the bubbles don't work themselves out, you can use a small sewing needle to pop them. Use the smallest possible needle (a syringe needle is even better, if you know a diabetic or someone else that has access to them) and be sure to push STRAIGHT DOWN into the center of the bubble, in order to make the smallest possible hole. You just want barely large enough for the air to escape without marring the vinyl.

Good luck to you!!!

Excellent, excellent writeup!! I ordered a pair of boot stripes for my '05 MCS from Aestethic Creations as well. My biggest fear in doing the job was the original badge removal.

I believe Mike is talking about a clear protective cover over the stripes.

He probably would have wrote it "Add Boot Stripe Laminate" if he had enough space (??).

To make sure, I'd e-mail him and ask.

When I ordered boot stripes from him before, that wasn't on his website. Something new.

Edit: Go up to the narrative on that web page and it explains it... as I guessed, it is a protective clear coating.

Hey I need Some advice on what Bonnet and Boot Stripes to put on my car!!!!

Hey everyone, I have a 2005 mini cooper s that is indi blue and now has the white bonnet stripes with the black edging. I recently changed the grill to a black one and bought asa ar1 black with the polished aluminum lip rims, and am going to be putting a checker board roof graphic on it (my roof is white, and my mirrors are white). My question is, I have NEVER seen an indi blue mini s with black/white edging bonnet stripes, it seems that everyone has the traditional white ones. How do you think it would look on my car? Thats the question I have, I just cant find any photo's of the combination anywhere!!! Please give me your opinion!!! Thanks so much

So, I went online to order these today but the Aesthetic Creations website references a "Bonnet Over Laminate" for an extra $20. I know that Kwilson asked the same question, but I never saw an conclusive answer. What the heck is it and should I add it to my order???

Greetings anitan1,

The Bonnet Over Laminate is just a clear invisible film thats is laid/installed over the bonnet vinyl stripe. What this does is protect the bonnet vinyl strip scuffing, scratching, water marks ( dried sprinkler water spray) and fading ( to some degree). It also enhances the gloss of the bonnet strip to match the glossiness of your mini's finish. I'm not sure what brand of invisible film A.Creations uses but i use a 3M film and looks great over my hood bonnet stripes. Hope that helps, oh and the dark vinyl stripes do show 'spider webbing' scratches very easily, another reason to install invisible film.
Cheers!

I would highly recommend the over-laminate to protect your investment.
I installed the boot stripes (as seen in the video earlier in this thread) and a couple of years later you can see swirls, scratches and water marks.
Now to fix this issue I will have to start from scratch.
Spend a little extra now and save a lot later.

Thanks CabrioPilot! I'll definitely get it...$20 is a small price to pay if it will add a few years to the stripes' life expectancy...

Need some help guys. I have been reading lots of threads, and I notice you all are in warm weather areas when you install your stripes. Any comments on if it's OK and just as easy to install the stripes in cold weather, in an open garage? thanks

I personally would not install stripes on a car in temps below 65 degrees, and prefer temps to be above 70 for proper curing of the adheasive.
