Houston Area Cruise/Meetup

Hi anyone interested in doing a Houston area cruise or mini meetup? We could meet up somewhere and then do a sort of rally to another location on some more scenic roads? Any ideas?

I'm a bit rushed at the moment, but wanted to mention that there are two or three drives planned in the near future - one this weekend that's going to Galveston - posted on MetroplexMINI.org in the Houston events section.

I'd be up for it if the timing was right.

You might want to contact one of the officers of the Houston MINI Motoring Society (HMMS) to solicit more interest. The current president is Andy HogoBoom.

The next HMMS meeting is Nov. 3.

UPDATE: OK dotBob responded before I was able to fire off my response.

Might be too long a trip, unless there is an overnight stay, but I'd like to go on a MINI cruise out to the hill country, like the Devil's Backbone, Old Tunnel Bat Cave north of San Antonio, Luckenbach, Pedernales Falls State Park, The Salt Lick BBQ, etc.... Map

Got this off another website:
Great Scenic Ride in Hill Country!
Yesterday, my wife and I drove up in the Hill Country past Bandera on Highway 16 toward Kerville. We turned on Texas Ranch/Farm Road 337 toward Vanderpool. It must rain there more often as everything was green and the view is GREAT with steep hills and deep valleys. I actually had to use my LOW gear to go up and down some of those hills...and lots of turns. This area is the best I have seen to date. Has anyone else been on this road?

Races in Bandera:
  • White Non-Hispanic (76.8%)
  • Hispanic (21.8%)
  • Other race (2.5%)
  • Two or more races (1.8%)
  • American Indian (0.9%)
Population (year 2000): 957. Estimated population in July 2006: 1,222 (+27.7% change)

Males: 435 (45.5%)Females: 522 (54.5%)

Ancestries: German (20.7%), English (11.3%), Irish (11.1%), United States (6.8%), Polish (6.7%), Scotch-Irish (6.7%).

According to our research there were 19 registered sex offenders living in Bandera, Texas in early 2007.
The ratio of number of residents in Bandera to the number of sex offenders is 59 to 1.

Where do people find time to do this sort of reserch. I am sooooooo going to vissit this small town. I am going to pick up some white chicks who are mostly german and we are going to cruze around looking for the 19 sex offenders who live in town.

I haven't been on that road, but I've had a couple friends tell me about it. They could never find where it was they had driven, but based on the directions above, here it is on Google Maps: http://tinyurl.com/2napjq

I like to see two different cruise / meet ups.

1. Gause, TX - There is a Place called Fat Bottom Farm (www.fatbottomfarm.com)

2. Lake Charles, LA - Hit several of the different Casinos. Make the drive via the coastline as much as possible then back up to Lake Charles.

I have a date already for the Lake Charles. Jan 26th/27th.

The Gause, TX maybe we could do that in early March.

Also, I have a big galveston deal (3rd Annual) the weekend of April 11th, 2008.
