GP2 Seat repair

OK. I'm an idiot. I sat down in my GP2 with a screw driver in my back pocket and ripped the alcantera seat fabric. It's a 1"x1" tear.

I've talked to a few apholstery shops in Denver and they all say that they cannot get fabric from Recaro. Anybody know of a good source for an exact match?

I can order the seat bottom replacement cover through MINI for about $470 plus installation labor.

Is anyone parting out a GP?

Any ideas would be most welcome.

...if you find a source, I might be interested in some as a spare.

There is a place in Florida that distributes Alcantara fabric.

On closer inspection, I've found that the Alcantara fabric of the Recaro seats is fused to a foam underlayment which makes it harder to repair.

I've decided to replace the whole bottom panel of the seat.

One of the Alcantara distributers in the U.S. is Gulf Fabrics in Forida.

I ended up buying a replacement seat bottom panel for around $400 and installed it myself. I got help with removing and replacing the hog rings that connect the cover to the foam padding. Now it is all good again. Phew!

Note to self. No sharp objects in the back pockets.
