Installed a new steering wheel on my GP2

Not trying to kick a dead horse here, but I tend to agree about the loss of grip with a smooth surface on the wheel. It looks great, don't get me wrong. Flat bottom...superb. But I wouldn't want to replace my stock wheel unless I was at least maintaining the same amount of tackiness/grip.
When the wheel in my race car (it's a momo alcantara wheel) gets worn down and shiny, I work a little sandpaper to toughen it up.
And out here in this desert climate, there's nothing worse than jumping in your parked car to find you can't even touch the wheel without gloves. Leather beats walnut, rubber and carbon fiber in this climate.

Actually grip is not that bad. The carbon fiber part has "finger dents" on the back.
As for the steering getting too hot, i always put a sunshade in my front window. Plus 95% of the time my hands are on the leather portion of the wheel.
I do, however, agree that this would not be the ideal steering wheel if i were tracking my car, which i don't.
