Creaking GP2 Hatch or Spoiler?

Wondering if any other GP2 owners have experienced a creaking sound coming from the hatch or spoiler area... At times, it almost sounds like the hatch isn't fully closed due to the creaky sound. It doesn't seem to be coming from the red support bar. I notice it the most when going in and out of driveways, as well as sporadically when I cross over bumps in the road. Noticed this last fall... It seemed to stop once the freezing temperatures set in and the roads became snow-covered, but now that Michigan's had a few days in the 40s and 50s, the creaking has returned. Anyone have this remedied by their dealership, and if so, what was required for the fix? Thanks in advance for your help. ~Shawn

Check the two springs that's attached to the hatch. My left one is loose and makes weird rattling/creaking sounds when going over bumps.

Good luck!

Thank you, RobMuntean. I'm heading to the dealership this weekend for my first scheduled maintenance. I hope they can resolve this without having to order parts. Am I safe in assuming that the warranty should cover this?

Normally they say that they don't cover anything that is wear and tear items. But in your case you have low miles and that shouldn't happen that early. So it should be considered broken or just loose so they can fix it under warranty no problem. Let us know what happened I'm curious if you have the same issue I did, mind you I'm at 64k miles.

I had the exact same problem and the dealer made an adjustment to the latching mechanism that fixed it right up.

They knew exactly what the problem was when I reported the noise, must be a common thing.

After multiple return visits to the dealership and replacement of multiple parts, a three-inch length of black electrical tape wrapped around the hatch latch put an end to the creaking and rattling. Strange that MINI hasn't re-engineered that part to avoid such a basic problem...

I've got felt tape wrapped around mine. Works like a charm.

where/what exactly are you wrapping? The chrome loop that sticks out of the hatch, that makes up to the mechanism below?

I think the creak for my car is coming from the Tarrett sway bar

Mine was squeaky as well. I fixed it with a few wraps of electrical tape around each end. It's been fine ever since.

Never mind. I was thinking of the red pseudo stress bar.
