...been wondering since I've learned about the GP...
One of my cars is also a rare car, 1998 MB C43. Both 1998 and 1999 saw 500 come to the US. In 2000 the E55 was the selection most people chose, and I think the C43 was a special order that year or at least was definitely very limited in numbers released, and only a few hundred were sold to folks here in the US. So there's a fairly limited number of them on the roads.
Yet over the years I must have come across maybe a dozen, maybe more on the roads.
......but I've never seen a GP..... So, where ya all hiding?!
One thing that comes to mind perhaps is I live in the NYC Tri-State area. This wider area (extending to lower New England to a little bit south of NJ), Florida, California, maybe Greater Atlanta area, is where we see the higher concentration of MBs. I kind'a gather that the Minis / GP are spread more evenly through-out the USA? Is this true? Actually, I think I can go look @ a registry to answer that...

The 415 GPs that came to the US are spread out across the US. What I remember is that each dealership could get about 4 GPs. For example, I think about 50 Gps came to California. Other than at the two Mini Takes the States events (Laguna Seca & Los Angeles), I have only seen three other GPs driving in California over the three years that I have had my GP. I have over 43,000 miles on my GP but I suspect many do not get driven much.

We got the Competition Edition instead of the GP and only 64 were made. From what I have read they were available in a few different colours and were basically fully loaded JCWs unlike the GP which didn't have rear seats or many options.
I spotted 0280 in a parking lot in the Hewlett/East Rockaway area of NY. I've seen it there numerous times and decided today I would park next to it and take a closer look.

But Canada did get the 1994 M3 euro spec engine, 286hp, wish we had that model. US only got 240hp version in 95.
Would be nice if GP owners could have a NorCal meet and run somewhere, like say Santa Cruz it has nice beaches, bars, coffee shops, parking, restaurants, proximity to bay area, and great roads.
I have got over 42,000 miles on mine. I have only seen one other GP where I live, in the Piedmont, Triad area of North Carolina. I did see another one at the Tail of the Dragon this Spring he was from Florida.

No worries - we'll meet up when I move to NC next year. We'll be on the coast, south of Wilmington in St James.
