The MINI Next warranty is a great program - it extends the original warranty out to 6 years / 100K miles, so this car would be covered until about 2012, or 100K - and it only has 11,600 at present. Keep in mind also that it was a special edition car. It would require a good test drive first, though.

remember guys, the price may seem a little steep right now but what about two or three years from now... it may seem like a bargain by then. They're not making anymore, they're rare and exclusive with only 415 in the US, they were hand built from "bodies in white" in Italy. In short, you can't build one and you can't buy a new one so your options are limited.
Four months ago I sold my 2006 full factory JCW MCS Cabrio with only 11,000 miles on it to purchase a perfect 2006 GP #1652 with only 5500 miles on it and I couldn't be happier with my decision to pick up a GP. I looked for 18 months to find a low mileage, perfect one-owner car and it was worth every minute of my time.
It's light, tight, fast and rare... I predict that the prices for low mileage original GP's will only go up in the future.
hhhmmm try to trade in,, even to a MINI dealer... you would be luckey to 20k for one.. There is no book value for GP package... would be given the value of a Cooper S with JCW kit... Believe me, not doggin the car by any means.. I have one... not that many would trade one in to a dealer.. but it is the only true way to get a real value of the car... plus, a car is only worth what you can get for it the day you sell it....same as like a house.. So if not in a hurry... throw it out there...

Not true. Look at the 95 BMW M3 Lightweight or 1993 Porsche RSA. These were very low production cars with a similar theme to the GP. 15 years later and these cars do not pull their original MSRP even when the economy was good. No current car made except maybe a Bugatti can draw more than its original window sticker in the used market. Not a carrara GT or Mercedes SLR. The investment takes 20 to 30 years, not 3 or 4. On top of that, the GP is nearing its warranty experation. When that occurs dealers will offer you less than 20K (more like 15K) on a trade.
Judging history value comes from speed as well as rarity. The GP just didn't offer that much more speed considering the concessions that were given up. Remember in 2006 you could get a factory ordered S with JCW. IMO Mini messed up by not making the car even lighter and by ditching the back seats. The rear seat delete should have been an option and AC delete should have been an option as well. Further, aluminum and Carbon Fiber panels should have been used for the doors, fenders, hood, roof and hatch. Those lightweight euro seats should have been available in the US too. I've driven a GP and believe the engine is perfect. Great sound and rev happy. But the car could have dropped more weight without sacrificing the rear seats. Being a two seater at 30 grand put the GP against stiff competition.
Better plan on holding on to it for 30+ years and just putting 1 to 2K miles on it a year if you want this car to be an investment.
I bought mine to drive and have fun. I am not worrying about the cost in the Future. I actually sold a Porsche 911 RSA to buy the GP I havent looked back

newbs49 was right, this won't hit the reserve again with 4 days left. We all know 415 of these only made it here, but these cars won't appreciate like we think. If you hold on to them for 30 years you might break even.
