Making The Ultimate GP

Hello guys, I got a few questions about the 2006 GP I'm from istanbul turkey, I am wondering if the chrono package can be retrofitted to the GP or if the lc display in the rpm gauge on top of steering column can display the speed....

also can you retrofit OEM bi-xenon's to the gp? what functional aerodynamic enchancements can be done to it? also how much horsepower can I get outta the stock blower, with 0.5mm over bore pistons (would I need machining of sleeves?) and carillo rods, schrick cam, new heads and intake manifold, and throttle body (I cantfind a throttle body on sale ever...)

will I tap 250 or 260 whp?, Im trying to build the best all rounder...sorry for speaking ignorant. I just think the GP is ultimate platform to start with

Tach - Zenon lights

Hi,
The digital display on the tach does display the speed as well as average fuel consumption, avg. speed, temperture, miles left on remaining fuel.
As far as the zenon headlights, thats a little harder. on U.S. cars there is an automatic leveling system, but the wiring doesn't seem to be in the wiring harness on the GP. European R53's have a manual leveling system with the switch low on the dash. The Euro shelf has a cut out for the switch. Personally I believe it would be easier to wire the European leveling system, rather than trying to wire the two leveling switches of the U.S. cars (one on the left front suspension and the other on the left rear suspension.
Sorry, can't really help you on the aerodynamic or performance mods.

Cheers,
Steven Tyler

Chrono pack can be retrofitted to any MINI (1st gen). However you would lose the GP grey dial speedometer, which is one of the special and unique things about a GP. You can install aftermarket gauges if you wanted more gauges.

I'm surprised that your car won't do it. When you click on the button on the turn stalk, what are the different functions that it displays?

"Ultimate GP" is a point of veiw, cause I think GP was designed to drop weight from MCS so aditional stuff like xenons will add the weight back on plus its a super PITA. As for gauges, I put the oem additional column gauges on and after couple of months put them back on the marketplace, the reason is the gauges looked horrible in mismatched light grey while GPs were a lumenescent black. I tried several vendors from nam to match them I tried proffessional gauge restorers, with no luck to match them. So, I imagine the Chrono pak would be the same deal. AS for the xtra HP I'd go with a RMW Head, Cam and Header or 2.0 Stroker GP, cause it looks like a stock GP under the bonnet. And you can throw the stock GP engine parts in a bin in the garage.

For the headlights, I switched to Osram Rallye 65W bulbs in the low and high beam locations. They work good without switching to HID. They look to be on sale for $20 each at the folowing link:

You can fit the OEM bi-xenon's on the gp easily, I saw one in Istanbul that has the OEM bi-xenon.

Hey Quick which Brisk plugs did you get for the GP and what did you gap them at?

I switched to Phillip Rallye 80W bulbs also in hi and lows, and at night I practically have to drive with my highs on so I can switch back to lows when a car goes by. Otherwise, cars going by engage their High Beams on me while I have my low beams on. I also have a Hella 100W set I have not installed yet, til these burnout.

For the GP, I ordered Brisk DR12S plugs but I have not installed them yet. I plan to gap at 0.026 which is what Alta states is proper. From Brisk technical data it looks like Brisk specs the gap at 0.4-0.9mm which is equivalent to 0.016-0.035". Looks like 0.026 is right in the middle of the Brisk spec.

From the brisk technical pages, I believe the official designation is DR12YS.
D is the shell dimensions (plug shape). R is interference suppression (resistor). 12 is the heat range. Y stands for projected insulator tip. S is for Silver electrode.
