General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
I dropped off my '06 R50 at MINI Victoria so they could look at my shifting into first difficulty. It generally happens when the car is cold, so I arranged to drop it off overnight. For the loaner (free, too!) they gave me the keys, or fob I should say, to a loaded 2011 Clubman S. I've never been big on the aesthetics of the Clubman, but wow, does this thing ever haul ***. Even driving auto I'm having a blast.. it will be tough to keep myself out of trouble for the next few days!
Unfortunately the Turbo Bug has bitten me and I will now have to save up cash to trade in the R50 for something a little quicker.
Haha, i've only had it since September though! I'll probably hang onto it for a year or two at least. I don't want to trade it in until I've paid it down a bit. It's still a lot of fun, I just love how hard the S pulls! Good things come to those who wait though, right?
After one year going from a 2010 S to 2011 JCW that is on the water shipping now. Hard to go back after you get a taste. Good move by the dealers to put people in turbo's as I am sure they will sell more cars.
My 06 R50 is in the shop right now too, and we have a 2010 Clubman S for our loaner
I could definitely get into a lot of trouble with a turbo. Although I do agree that the 1st gen S's with the supercharger are pretty awesome with the supercharger whine...
