2004 Mini electrical problem refuses to start :(
Hi all, I bought this mini for cheap cause of the CVT (of course) but the previous owner was'nt using it much during the last months because of the tranny. So he had to jump start the car but he said that since he did that the mini don't start anymore. I bought it like that.
What I found is that when we try to start, the only thing we hear is the clic of the relay. I checked for the fuses and found fuse #41 burnt. I changed it and it did'nt burn again but the car won't try to start more. When we try to start it does like if the car was in R or D position or if we don't press the brake. Is there something else that I should do or forgot or don't know? Is a burnt ECU could do that?
Any help is welcome

Like I wrote, any help is welcome even if it makes me look stupid lol
I did'nt check the voltage since everything else works fine. Usually when a battery is bad everything drops when we try to start cause the starter motor drains all the current available. In my case I don't loose anything when starting and the starter makes no effort.
Are you telling me that the ECU does'nt allow the starter motor to work cause the battery does'nt give the right voltage?
Thank's for your help

Some good info in this thread here. The battery you used was a brand new one? I'm sure you have, but will say it anyways, check the grounding strap on the left side of motor for tightness. Have you tried to jump it with another car? Other thing I can think of is a starter issue maybe...

Just to close this thread if ever it can help someone else. 2 months later I found my problem. The time my pit was available to work under and the time I receive the right parts (4 in a row defective or not the right one :( )
It was the short copper braid cable between the solenoid and the starter who was completely desintegrated. I could'nt hear the sound of the solenoid when I was trying to start.
Of course I had to change the starter assy and every thing is fine now.
Thank's for the help
