Countryman vs Fiat vs Juke
I found these crash tests to be somewhat troubling for todays automotive standards. Maybe they are just making some cars too light ? Anyways, the tests here are to simulate as if someone or yourself had accidentally crossed over the center line into on coming traffic, and at only 40 MPH....
The Fiat's top of door frame and A pillar both bend inwards while the crash dummy's head goes forward slipping in between both wheel's air bag and the side impact air bag as dummies head strikes the A pillar/trim....So not total coverage there....test results overall evaluation = Poor.
The Nissan Juke collapsed in similar fashion. Test results overall evaluation = Poor.
Countryman, well you decide which vehicle you would want to be in....

Wow! It's scary seeing what slightly going over at 40 mph can do!!! I would definitely rather be in the MINI, I don't think it was too bad, but the other two you could clearly see the crash dummy's head going in between the airbags. In my house we have two 500L's and we've been in accident in one and it actually held up pretty good. I feel like the FIAT did really bad compared to the other two because of it's space, there's just so much room and free space inside the 500L and I imagine it would be very easy to go in between the airbags because they didn't seem very big. You could also see how the width in the overlap test clearly made a difference, the Juke is considerably smaller than the other two cars and since the track for the test is installed in the middle of the car (you can see this when they play the top view), the extra width of the other two caused a lot more damage to the cars than did the Juke.
