what does GP stand for?

Hello, I am new to this site and a new owner of a 2006 mini cooper S as of yesterday. I was wondering what does GP mean?

Merry Christmas everyone

the GP is a 2006 limited edition called "Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP". This edition is limited to 2000 , all in the same color.

As for "GP" there also once was a Classic Mini called Grand prix. That too was a limited edition. Released to celebrate the 35th birthday of Mini, a series of only 35 cars were produced. About this classic GP, the following website deserves some respect: http://home.12move.nl/coopergrandprix/the_cooper_gp.htm

Yeah, I believe both cars are tributes to John Coopers F1 exploits.

So, did you manage to snag a GP, not knowing what it really was?
