Best arm rest?

My 2010 MCS Mayfair (HC/B, sunroof, toffee lounge and stripes, H/K, bluetooth) should arrive in a week or two. It does not have an armrest. Which one should I get?

I cheaped out and bought the Elbow Landing Pad (is that the right name?) for my '04, but want something more substantial this time around.

Elbow Landing Device. I have one in my 03, like it lots. But I don't know if you can get them anymore.

what "stock" one are you referring to?

The one I linked to is the OEM "Euro" armrest. In the US, the stock ones I've seen look like this monstrosity which my car came with:

It looks prettier - but doesn't work nearly as well. I spent $$ to replace my OEM one with the other one (including replacing center console, etc.).

I have the OEM one in a box if anyone wants to buy it.

Why is it better? would be a fair question.

The "Euro" one sits up a bit higher - maybe an inch or so - which is the "right" height for my elbow based on how I sit in the car. The OEM armrest was too low to be usable for me.

Also, the "Euro" one has a flip top, not a sliding top - so you're not continuously knocking it open by accident.

Ahh, I thought that might be the name, but went with the wrong guess. Gotmini.com still has em listed, FWIW. Pretty sure they don't fit Gen2, and want something more substantial in any case, but I was surprised to find they still exist.

I tend to ride pretty low, so the fact the Euro armrest rides an inch higher likely won't matter to me. Still, I have read a lot of complaints about the MINI sliding armrest, so I think I need to take that one off of my list straight off.

I was in the dealership the other day, and I could swear the armrest I saw had a flip top, not a sliding top. Then again, the only thing I remember with real certainty anymore is that my memory just isn't very good.

Blimey, I am very taken by the idea of having Redline do a custom cover. I've been planning to take some time before ordering my boot covers from them, as the ones they did for my 04 sufffer a litttle from bad choices on my part.

I'd also be happy to buy my armrest from Aaron, although that price really is up there. Can you tell me how much trouble it was to install the armrest cover? I see you did the door covers as well, and that looks like a huge amount of work to me. How does the cover install compare? It is nice to know they have done one now, and have the template. But wait a sec, if you sent them the lid, did they install the cover for you?

The sliding top sucks, it never stays closed, one of the few things I hate about my MINI, my OEM cupholder too, but I replaced it with the minifini one. I like the one Blimey has, might check that out if outmotoring has a sale.

I was thinking about starting the exact same thread! I'm glad I found this...lotsa good info (I didn't know the sliding one stunk...and it was my front-runner choice, since it can be ordered with the matching anthricite).

EDIT:: Confused about one thing though: Outmotoring's website says the armrest "Blimey" has fits all '02~'06 hatchbacks, as well as newer models. Presitge's Ebay ad for this same piece does not say it will fit the earlier models. (...?...)

Hello,
I too ordered a 2010 MCS Mayfair, and she is "Awaiting Transport". I wondered where your Mini is in the process? My dealor thought mine would be here the end of April. I am so anxious... do you have specific timelines?

Good luck with your armrest purchase. I did order the armrest, but not sure if it's the good one or not.

Thanks,
Eleanor's mom

My MINI is on a boat which reportedly docks in Baltimore (new port for BMW and MINI) on Tuesday, although I have had some trouble tracking it since it is not on the WW line.

http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...d-updated.html is the place to learn all about tracking your MINI. There is a ton of info there.

Oh yeah, Welcome to NAM!

I find that the BEST arm rest is a fine looking woman in the passenger seat.

black and silver 15-CD jewel case from Target, last I looked $7.99. fits perfectly between the two seat belt inserts, right atop the emer brake boot.
