M7 Opinions?

As the title says, what's your opinion on the products that M7 puts out. Looking to start modifying my R53 and looking for top notch quality.

For me you question is too broad - M7 sells a lot of different stuff. But if I had to give a broad recommendation it would be to Texas Speedwerks. Very knowledgeable and great service to boot.

Great upper strut bar with built in tower defenders.....the latter is needed for your R53 to keep the towers from mushrooming.

^ +1. I've had the strut tower plates on from day 1. I drive on rough midwestern-winter-battered roads and took the plates off the other day to go back to stock for trade-in after 103k miles...the towers look great. Definitely a necessity.

I have their strut tower bar. When I purchased it, it looked like a piece of artwork. I can't really say anything about their other products, but I am impressed by their STB.

I have their heat shield, shift knob, and inter-cooler charge pipe. The thing I do like about M7 is that they ALWAYS answer the phone. They take the time to answer your questions.

I recently had to cancel my order for their CF hood scoop and it wasn't a problem at all. They just said OK and put the money back in my account.

I called and asked if I could buy a couple of decals ( I put them on my laptop) and they sent me a couple for free.

My car was going in for the cold chatter problem and I knew that the dealer would have to take the valve cover off to fix it. So I knew that they would have to take off the heat shield. I called M7 and they sent me a couple of new pieces of double sided tape so I could put it back on. No charge.

The only complaint that I have is that the inter-cooler charge pipe I got from them rubbed on my coolant tank. I had to do a little "fix" on it. But we all know that silicone "boost tubes" have a problem with rubbing... I should have listened when everybody told me to get hard pipes.

All in all, I really like dealing with M7. They are nice people and they ALWAYS answer the phone. That counts for a LOT in my book. I also like the fact that Mathew knows who I am when I call. Although, I'm not so sure HE likes when I call

Another great guy to deal with is Clint from DoS (Defenders of Speed). I just ordered his CAI the other day. He took the time to answer my questions as well. We probably spent 20 min on the phone just talking about Minis. Where do you find that these days? If you are going to get an intake, the DoS one is the one to get in my opinion. IT truly is a COLD air intake

I've also had good experiences with Way Motor Works. Waylen (SP?) is a good guy, and knowledgeable as well.

And despite alot of the bad feelings about Alta on this site, I have found their customer service great so far. They also took the time to answer my questions, and gave me a refund on a couple of things without a problem.

Hope this helps. Good luck with the mods!

Hood scoop's crap...

Bad fit with many flaws that took many hours from my body shop to paint.

Plus one of the molded-in screws now spins freely so I can't tighten or loosen it.

I would say it's mainly a personal preference thing, but I have a bunch of M7 stuff on my R55. I started with their heat shield and then got the their Strut Tower J Brace, Muffler Delete Hose, and Ram-2 Scoop. All Great stuff, I really like the design and build quality of the M7 products. Peter is great and Matthew does a good job of getting things out to you.

I also like the stuff from NM engineering. I have their CAI, torque bar insert, Cold side pipe. Top notch quality from NM also. From Alta I have a 22mm rear sway bar and end-links for the front and back. Excellent quality at very competitive prices.

My 2¢, Cheers

I had the M7 STB and plates. But when I put the NM intake on it rubbed up against it so I removed the M7 STB and put the NM STB on.

I have the M7 Vortex II hood scoop in CF. Fit is very good. Finish is OK but no where near what the OEM JCW CF pieces look like.

It took NM 3 months to ship that part out to me.

Won an eBay auction from M7 in late December for the C-Wing in CF. Still waiting to get that part.

Hey onefish2, you need to use the "J Brace" crossbar with certain intakes like the JCW & NM. I have absolutely no clearance problems and I think the "J Brace" crossbar looks better ta' boot!

There was no J brace STB from M7 at that time. I went with the NM STB. It's much better and matches the car quite nicely.
