Hey guys. I understand some of the commentary above. I am not a complete impulse buyer but I would lie if I were to say that I am not, at times, impulsive. I have considered, though not VERY seriously, the Mini for some time now.

Ironically enough, I received yet another email from the salesman last night. He asks..."How far away are we from what you want to get for your trade-in?" I am in a great position right now because I don't really need or have to have a Mini....again, I will move on it if it feels right. I already REALLY like the Mini and wouldn't be pursuing this for fun as I am just as BUSY with life as the next guy.

So...I'll keep you posted. I gave the salesman a number that I thought was fair and reasonable and told him that if the dealership wanted to pursue the deal to let me know. So....we'll see if I hear anything back. At the very end of the day, you have a tough and uncertain economy and a niche car in a niche pricing market. I would think that this is the VERY best time to try an get a deal on one of these cars. We'll see if I can do it....

Great news! I believe that we have come to a deal! This all happened so fast TODAY! Persistence has appeared to pay off! I am scheduled to sign the paperwork tomorrow! This deal was made, for inquiring minds, on an ordered CooperS. Not one from off the lot. I am very happy with the final offering(S). Thank you all again for your patience and input!

Will,
I am waiting to get the full rundown on the numbers. I want to walk in and be ready to sign. The car is an order so I am looking at 4-6 weeks before I can snap any pictures.

I just finished reading over this entire thread over lunch. (A lunch hour has how many minutes again?)

I found the input to be very informative as it came from various angles of life/business experiences.

I think every business transaction will be different based on numerous factors, but I will certainly try to keep some of this info in mind when I'll negotiate a contract for my future Cooper S!

Congrats!

Congrats from a fellow Dark Silver owner! I just read through this thread and it was probably one of the better novelettes I've had the pleasure to read. Full of excitement, sadness, frustration, disappointment, jubilation, and a happy ending! That made my weekend.

silhouette88,
Thanks! Glad you take something from it.

RJK,
I am certainly excited. Maybe not consuming EVERY single thought in my head but pretty damn close!

I will post some pictures once I have the car the way I like it.
