School Bus hit my MINI today...

Yeah. Was taking my MINI to be serviced. Was only 2 minutes from my house when a school bus rear ended me. Smashed the boot and hurt my neck but other than that, it's okay. It should deffinately be their fault but I'll have to wait to find out.

Really irritated. Just washed the car yesterday and had it looking brand new. Just put the R50 emblem under the COOPER emblem. Only had the car for 5 weeks today.

On the bright side, at least you weren't seriously injured. It still sucks though. I don't see how it could be anything but the bus driver's fault, so you should be good. I hope they can get it repaired to your satisfaction.

I'm glad you weren't hurt! You're doing far-better than me if you're only 'really irritated', but more power to you! I know it's "only" a car (well, a MINI) and thank goodness no one was hurt but when a school bus of all vehicles rear-ends a MINI or any other vehicle, that's not so good.

Hope your new MINI gets fixed up spiffy-new like in short order!

Some details/photos would be nice. Was it slick? Did you stop suddenly? Did you "see it coming"? Details!!!!

Yeah, the school bus had tons of kids on it...elementary kids at that.

I did not see it comming. Here's what happend...

I had just turned left onto a neighborhood road and not even a 1/20th of a mile was a 4 way intersection. I had to stop/slow down because the car infront of me slowed down to make a turn. The bus, however, did not slow down and just plowed me not but 4 inches to the right of my liscense plate.

I have a witness who was on the opposite left corner who saw the whole thing. He said it was the bus's fault. Didn't even try to stop. Was too close behind me.

I'm hoping this will all be resolved with little to no issues/conflict.

As far as damages go: I'll need a whole new hatch, tail light, bumper cover, and possible corner panel repairs. I'll try to get some pics uploaded tomorrow.

Hit by a school bus? How rare! I glad that both you and that bus full of kids are OK.

I hate when people sleep or just to lazy to use brakes... I twice at the same place used the shoulder when traffic in my lane slows and the guy behind me tries to merge with left lane by speeding up... So happy the Mini Respond quick to quick inputs... except for my moms X3... that one is a heavy one... lovely understeer to avoid SUV..

The schoolbus do have cameras inside.. they should reveal what the bus driver was doing, maybe he was texting!

Did it make the news? Anytime a school bus hits anything around here, its like the top story with all the news helicopters circling overhead for the "breaking news!!!!!"

heh. No. Thankfully no media attended. It wasn't a bad accident. I think the bus was only going like 10-15 mph when it hit me. It's just that those buses weight every bit of 5-6 tons and MINIs only weight about 1 ton. It was a solid bang for sure though.
