Is this normal? Suspension Question.

I have an 02 R50.

Is the suspension supposed to be "creaky"? I don't notice it when I'm driving but I can hear it, say for example, I am backing out of a driveway.

Also, sometimes when my car has been parked for a while (couple of hours) and I go to leave, it feels as if something is unsticking in the front. The best way I know how to explain it is, it's like my MINI is popping it's joints. It doesn't seem real bad but if there is a potential problem I'd like to get it fixed ASAP before it worsens and/or causes other problems.

Anything I should look for or what it could be if this is not normal?

I haven't noticed poor handling or anything feeling loose while driving. It still feels like a safe ride but I just want to make sure.

Thanks.

Sounds like some bushings are binding and need to be lubed or might be getting close to needing replacement (do you have an aftermarket sway- bar?...they seem to be more prone to clunking, and need to be lubed more than the OEM)...mostly a guess....but it sounds like if they are just binding after sitting for a few hours, and begin to move with their first moment of the day....it doesn't sound too bad.
I bet your local MINI guy probably keeps some power-flex bushings in-stock that will solve your problem....they are a pretty good product from what I have seen, and the few that have been installed on my car...not to $ $ either....compared to OEM anyway.
Good luck....and it is always a good idea to listen to what you MINI is saying!!

Thankyou.

Dustin from Autoxcooper said that the bushings are usually shot by 75k miles and i'm at 79k so perhaps it is time to replace them. I'll just have to find where/what shop can do it for me. time is a factor since I'm heading out of town the 9th so I won't have time to order them.

Nope. No after market sway bar or aftermarket anything...for now
Got the TSW engine damper and an alta drop in on the way though!
