Motoring in your sleep?

I'm sure there's already a thread on here about having cars show up in your dreams, but searching for things like "dream" and "Mini" or "car" on this site brings up about 60% of all previous posts.

So, who dreams about their cars? I don't normally dream about regular life stuff; I have these epic sort of sagas that almost never relate to the mundane. I don't dream about work or people I know or things I've seen. The one grounding element that shows up in them though is that I dream about my cars.

When I had Miatas I dreamt about driving them and discovering little driving tricks or hidden controls to make them faster. (That I could never remember when I woke up. Alas...)

My 2002 Subaru WRX showed up in my dreams all the time and nearly always in the same way. There was usually some big dream plot consequence hanging on my ability to smoothly downshift the car into first gear. If the gears ground I'd snap awake.

Two years ago I had surgery on my left leg (I had an aneurysm) and was told I'd probably never drive a manual transmission car again. (I'm assuming this is the driving equivalent to being told you'll never walk again.) At the dealership, as I traded my beloved WRX for an automatic, I am probably the only person to ever cry upon taking ownership of a brand new car.

I never dreamt about the automatic. Ever.

A few months ago, after a lot of physio, I realized that not only could I walk, but I could drive a standard again. (Take that doctors!) Now I have a Mini. It's a standard. And I dream about it.

How cool is that?

I dreamed once that my MINI could fly through space. Something to this effect:

Just a stock image I photoshopped.

Wow, now that's my kind of dream! What'd you have before you went to sleep?

When I first got my MINI, I had this recurring nightmare about people stealing my car or being trapped in a parking lot and not being able to get out.

I had a dream the other night and it was quite bizar. For some reason I was at a Mazda dealership with my Mini(more on this later) and it was in one of the showrooms or parts section for some reason. Well I walked away from it and for what seemed like 5min and when I returned it had be ransacked like everything had been stripped out of it and the lights were on, it was even running. The thing was there was cameras in the room and they apparently didn't work. I woke up then and was like WTF was that. So on the Mazda dealership, my roommate had a Mini last weekend that she picked up from a Mazda dealership(impulse buy bad on her part) and she had to take it back. Ya it might have been a premonition or something. It was just wierd.

I just moved to Buffalo NY and everybody here keeps telling me about the snow and how horrible it is. The other night I dreamt that about 4 feet of snow fell overnight and buried my Mini. I was totally distraught over it until an unseen dream commentator put it all into perspective by offering: "Well, what do you expect? It's Buffalo."

Hopefully this isn't some kind of premonition either. Usually I dream about driving it.

When I motor in my sleep, Vicki Butler-Henderson is in the front passenger seat and I'm racing Kazzie through the Nurburgring. In other dreams, the passenger is Sabine Schmidt and I'm driving on the E40 to Switzerland (which isn't a total dream as I have driven in an Audi A6 on the autobahn).

I've had about 2 or 3 dreams that involved my MINI or a MINI since I got my MINI a month ago. I love those dreams.

I had a dream a week or two ago that a friend I don't actually have got a MINI and I sat in it and it made me really miss the MINI I used to have. Of course in reality I already missed that car. Well, today I put in my order for a 2010 MCS. Probably not exactly related to that dream but who knows!!
