Not loving my mini so much....
I've only had my 2009 mini cooper-s since March. 6,800 miles on it and I'm in the shop for the second time! Towed there both times. This time it started with check engine - increased emmisions. On my way to the appointment I got a warning "engine malfunction - reduce load or engine or you may damage the catalytic converter" (or something to that effect). Made it another few miles and then died on the highway. The car's been there since Tuesday night, haven't heard the diagnosis yet.
Anyone else having issues with 2009 cooper-s?? My previous issue was a bad high pressure fuel pump. I don't know if I got a lemon or what but you better believe I've carefully read the lemon laws here in Maryland.
Just guessing, but it could be the first issue caused the second problem. Not sure this would be a limon issue, but then I'm not up on the laws in Maryland. I know its no fun to have your car stop along the road (been there, done that). Let's hope that they can fix the last issue quickly and that it is you last issue for a long time.
that's crazy! i heard about other 09s having fuel pump issues.

I really do feel for you MAV2836, but I don't think you are anywhere near being able to invoke the Limon Law. You have had two issues with your car. The dealer thought he fixed the first, but now you have another which may or may not be related. You may get your car back after this issue is fixed and not have another problem in the next 100k miles, or you may have another tomorrow. But I really think it is premature to be telling the dealer you have a limon and you need your money back or a new car. All new cars are very complex especially with all the gov required crap, so we will have problems with them from time to time. Actually it is amassing to me that we don't have more problems.
My service advisor called me with the problem. He says the car has bad gas and that it looks like there is diesel in the gas tank. Said the first sample of gas they pulled looked cloudy, they pulled another sample that was clear. Claims that there's definitely a trace of an oil substance in the gas tank. When I asked him how diesel could have gotten into my gas tank he said "it looks like someone put a gallon of diesel in and then realized the mistake and stopped". My husband and I are the only ones who have ever put gas in the car and neither of us have ever put diesel in (besides, I thought the nozzles on diesel were bigger to prevent that?) and we always use the premium gas. He said that maybe it was bad gas at the station but I find this hard to believe because the issues didn't start until 200 miles after I filled the car up. Diesel is heavier than gasoline so it seems to me that the issues would have begun much earlier than 200 miles later. Also, he said there were only "trace amounts" of diesel.
And of course because they say its 'bad gas' related, its not under warranty. They want $800 to drain the gas tank and replace the spark plugs.
I'm so annoyed! I love the car but jeez, my Chevy never gave me problems like this!
The wifey filled up her Pacifica with diesel, that was hilarius . She was wondering why it was emitting BLACK puffs of exhaust I was rolling on the ground until I got the $730 bill from the stealer to drain the tank, check the fuel system, replace the fuel pump and on and on. I still giggle when I think about the look on her face when she realised what she had done.

The boot door of my 09 cabrio keeps coming open. It usually starts in the morning when I first get into the car. The light will come on and the car will ding to tell me hat the boot is open. I stop the car, get out, close the trunk, get back in, only to have the same thing happen again. I charged the keyfob which seemed to help for a couple of days, but then it started to happen again last night. Any ideas??

Funny....My cooper S hardtop has had issues stating that the boot was open or ajar when I hadnt opened it in over a week! I would just roll it out of the garage, warm it up and then as Im driving down the street it says its ajar. I check and somehow it seems to have unlatched a tiny bit?
Also, my wideband O2 (nearest the turbo) went out previously, and I was just in for service last week because my car was leaking coolant slowly...seems as if the waterpump was on its last leg at 10K miles.
