Finally finished break-in on my R56

On my way back to the office from lunch yesterday, I wrapped around the 1200 mile mark, woohoo! Today, I took a slightly longer way back to the office which included an onramp to a service road, which is a gentle uphill, right hand turn, then about a mile of straight, slightly undulating road. So, I popped the sport button, took the turn in 3rd gear, and hammered it down.

First thing I noticed was that the gas pedal doesn't actually go down that far The second thing I noticed was that I was going 78, and I had uttered the words "holy crap!"

Little car's got some spunk to it!

What it lacks in total acceleration (coming from a more powerful vehicle), it more than makes up for in seat of the pants exhileration.

MINI's done well...

Have fun!
I went out for a urban driving this evening and there were soooo many cops. I have a radar detector and it was going off every other exit on the freeway and sure enough there were Malibu's hiding under the overpass with all the lights off. I get the exhileration in higher cornering speed and acceleration but not in high speed cruising so I am not really susceptible to speeding tickets. To finish the evening drive off I went onto one of the clover leaves and went all the way around. At one point while I was rocketing out of a on-ramp, there was a cop right next to me on the left but he was not merging into my lane to exit. whew.... It was a close one.

Thanks, r56mini!

Hopefully I'll get some time to put a few more fun miles on today, even if it is just using the MINI as a Mini and driving around town, haha.

I only get to put my foot down once in awhile but when I do my MINI never fails to put a big smile on my face...not just for acceleration (I have a peppy little Cooper) but for the overall balance, poise, feedback of the car. You'd think this would get passe over the years, but (now with my second Cooper) it's still a surprise and a delight. I love MINIs!!!

I think am getting addicted to driving my MINI. I have had fun cars before but not this fun. Over the last three days (I was off on Friday as well), I have driven over 500 miles. This morning alone, I have put on about 250 miles. I drove to the east side of the Mt. St. Helens and the view was magnificent! I forgot to take my camera because I didn't know I was driving to the mountain. Words can't describe what I saw... The tip of the mountain..thick, heavy fog in the valley, and I was somewhere in between the tip and the fog... I keep wanting to drive out. Don't take me wrong. I don't have problems at home but I have a longing to drive my MINI whenever and whereever. The road connecting hwy 12 and town of Cougar was as winding as I would like.... The asphalt was very old at many locations and there were rough fault lines but the MINI stock suspension handled them very nicely. That sealed my decision not to get the car lowered. If I lower the car the rough backroads like that will definitely damage my car. And the aftermarket or JCW exhaust will be too loud in the mountains.... IMO it would be too rude to the wild animals and the hunters.
Did I say I love driving my MINI?

In the almost 6 years that I owned my WRX, I had never gotten revved at by other cars for, I assume, a race. Today, after just a month of ownership of my MCS, I got revved at by a base-model new-style Honda Civic. It was like a rite of passage, and oh-so-awesome

I didn't even notice he was revving at me at first, since his car looked and sounded stock, and was really quiet. Ah well, I had a good chuckle over that one
