Opinion on Weathertech mats or other winter mats?

I know we are in the middle of Summer but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with Weathertech Heavy duty mats for in the winter?

I live in Cleveland and drag in alot of snow an salt in the winter months.

Not in d'Mini (yet??), but I did have them in 3 other cars and liked them. No snow here, but they are deep enough that if something is spilled, chances are good that the mat can contain it.

I also have them in other vehicles. They have served me well in the nastiest of winter weather. Planning on getting a set for the MINI (if I have to), but hopefully I'll have my winter car done by then!

I have the factory rubber Mini mats and they work great for snow rain etc, we have a 06 Honda Odyssey touring and I know a lot of people on the Ody club forum rave about the weather tech mats as Davavd mentioned they are usually deeper than stock.

My WT mats on my civic did not last, they cracked at the mat-to-ridge connection point so that they leaked through to the floor.
If you held them up to the sun you could see alot of daylight through them.

I might be wrong about WT making mats for the Mini. They list them in their ad but if you go to the site and select your car, they don't show up as an option. I emailed them and am waiting for a reply.

Do the oem mats hold much water. I get a lot of salt run off from my old Passat mats that stain build up in the carpet. I was hoping the MT's "floor liners would solve the problem.
