My LY/W MC gets so many bugs pressed into it's little painted front that I'm looking for something to either deflect or take the brunt of the bug barrage. Since I have a 02, could I order a clear bra and have it installed or would it even help? I'm hoping that a bra would be perhaps easier to wipe off than the original paint. I've searched some of the back threads and can't find a really straight forward answer. Thanks in advance!
I think they can be applied at any time, as long as the front end of your car is clean and without chips. I bought my SG '03 Cooper used in '04 and had one installed shortly after I bought it. I have never had any problems with it being on the front end. I also had the mirrors done and would not recommend getting them done as I have had the ClearBras on them replaced twice, due to puckering at the bottom of the mirrors. As for removing bug splatter, it's a lot easier to remove [the grille is what is hard to clean off, at least for me, since it isn't covered by the ClearBra].
Any one out there applied their own Clear Bra to their headlights? I have been all over the internet, and here, and cant find any clear fire method to do it. I have been outside half of the day on my @#%$#*&$# headlight, and still the little puckers prevail! I have one "done" (kind of), and am contemplating pulling it off to save me from pulling out the rest of my hair on the second. Before I started I had this crazy notion that it wouldnt be too bad, and maybe I could do the bra also....HA! Now I just want to have the other headlight done. Help!!
I would think you could have this protection applied any time. Even chips in the paint will not preclude its installation, they'll just be under the plastic, thats all. I would hate to think what the front of my car would look like at the end of the summer, here in Indiana, if I didn't have the clear bra. I don't much like to wait for things to soak, I guess, so I have to admit, I rub on those pesky bugs a little hard sometimes, with the wool mit. I have a soft nylon dish scratcher (not a good word in a sentence with Mini!)I use on the clear bra to get them off. I have tried a couple "bug removers" and neither of them work well, just kill the suds in the bucket.:impatient I think I would not try to install it myself, get someone who does it every day. hth

You can get it done...the installer will clean it off and if it needs any touch-ups before you do it, ask if they will do the touch-ups or if you need to. I'm a big fan of it! It is slightly easier to remove bugs from than from the paint, and I feel better removing them from the film than from the paint anyway - the film's a lot easier/cheaper to replace!
As a follow up to this ... will the clear lens protectors help with the degeneration of the headlight lens from sand, sun and road debris? My R53 had a headlight replaced 4 years later and the new one was so, so clear compared to the original.
