Off to work yesterday and while merging onto the freeway, some vehicle threw a half-tire retread directly in my path. No where to go but over/through it. The piece struck the right front of my JCW and after the loud impact, nothing appeared wrong with the car.
When I arrived at the office, I checked out the car. Ouch!! The plastic front damper was half off and I had some tire skid marks on the right passenger door. Then went to the dealers and was told the new parts would be $115.00.
I was VERY happy that was all, but they then put it on the lift for an underside view. Main front brackets that hold the intercooler were gone as was a piece of the intercooler. It was going to be over $2K, so we did the insurance route. I'm waiting for further details.
Not too much metal in the front end! Bummer. And I've got a lousy rental!
Very unfortunate to hear about your car I also hit a retread while traveling down to the tail of the dragon this summer, but was fortunate to have it just do some body damage.
Good luck and hopefully your JCW will have a swift recovery!
