Lightly Modifying My F56
#52
I think it took 1.5 to 2 hours. I was wandering around and didn't keep track of time. On the 250 mile trip back from Asheville the only time the inlet air temp went over 105º was when I was stopped or in really slow traffic. Once back up to speed the temp dropped rapidly. This temperature reading was according to my ScanGauge II.
Another mod that I'm happy with. Hopefully more to come this week.

Well, today was a busy one. Added a couple more things.
These...
The blue one...
Couple of these grey ones...
Bad picture of the adjustable rear control arms.
This shows the new rear brakes, spring, swaybar, stainless lines, and end links.
Front brakes were installed with NM stainless brake lines. I was worried for a moment that the wheels wouldn't fit over these rotors. Things are huge!
Brakes with wheels installed...
Topped it all off with a strut brace by NM.
Only downside of this work is I lost all the coding I had done at the Dragon. Software has to be updated for the JCW brakes and once the program starts to run it updates everything. Small price to pay for these brakes though.
The springs closed the wheel well gap nicely too.
Before...
After...
All this work was done by my friend Chris at G3 Automotive. Can't recommend him highly enough for anyone in the Raleigh, NC area.
This is one of his toys. If you were at the Dragon you probably saw him on Vendors Alley.

There is a new version of the intake tube that is being R&D tested as we speak. After they wring it out for a couple more weeks they'll send me my new one and it'll be reinstalled. I had some warranty work being done a couple weeks ago so I pulled the NM and went ahead and swapped out the intakes while I was at it. CF definitely looks better.

What were the coding changes? Also, why was a software update required with the BBK?
Sharp looking ride! Really like the wheels.
Thanks

Coding, in my case consisted of adding some cool features. Ability to roll the windows up w/key fob, enabled rear fog lights, enabled fog lights w/high beams, changed the number of turn signal blinks, disabled warning message on start up, enabled tail lights w/DRLs. Stuff like that. Sadly I'm back to default original coding on those things now. I'll get it done again down the road somewhere. Might even take a ride up to Helix one weekend.
When the BBK is installed, the DSC, anti lock, and probably a couple other things have to be updated to work with the much improved braking capabilities. Problem is, when you plug in the computer w/BMW software it takes over and updates everything it deems necessary. You can't pick and choose what to update and you can't stop it until the programming is complete. Took over two hours.

They do don't they. They shined up nicely after the 85 mile drive home last night. I'll post a pic of them after I get back from my alignment.
Go for it! there's no time like the present.
On the way back from my alignment I'm gonna take some twisty roads and get a feel for the new suspension.
