sorry man, was referring to previous bmw's...they all had combox's and just needed it enabled in order to get it. i've reached out to the retrofit guys to get more details about it.

I got the MyCarly dongle for BMW and the pro version app for CEL resets, but it does also allow for some coding. They seem to have good customer service and are open to taking requests for adding stuff to the app. I think it the only app I've ever bought where they sent an e-mail afterwards asking about my experience with it. I think they have the most available for the R56 but are working on the F models now. Might want to see if this can do what you want.

My brother gave me this cable which he used when he had an X5.

Will this work with the F56?

Hard to tell from looking at it. Needs to be an ENET cable. Mine does not have a usb...

It looks like it should fit your OBD port. I think then, it will depend on the software on your laptop or whatever you connect the cable to for what you can do from there. Going by the note on another forum, it looks like if you get software that will work on F-series BMW it should work on your car. http://www.minif56.com/forum/409-ele...it-coding.html

Good Luck!

This cable is made for the older 2nd gen MINIs and E-series BMWs and will not work with the F-series cars - you will need an ENET cable. Looks the same but uses ethernet as the interface to your computer instead of USB.

Coding for installing multi-functional steering wheel

Hi All:

I have questions how to install multi-functional steering wheel.

After installing switch, I think have to change VO (vehicle order).
*I know multi-functional number is S249A
Do I have only to change VO?

I want to work audio control and cruise control.
If there are any other parameters to change, please let me know.

Thank you for trying to understand my poor English.

Anyone using a laptop that lacks the ethernet port, but instead using a USB to ethernet cable? Reason I ask previously I had everything running on an older laptop - but recently upgraded to a smaller ultrabook. E-sys is all installed but seem to have issues connecting to the car when using the adapter. I've read it should work but maybe I'm missing a step?

I have Windows10 laptop, ENET cable and E-sys 3.27.1.
I've already succeed coding for Day driving light, GPS sync for clock, DVD speed lock removal...and so on.
I thought, after VO coding, I might have to coding BDC or HU_NBT.

this may be silly but have you waited until your usb-ethernet port received a self-assigned (169...) address? that's the IP path they take when they talk.

Very cool feature!

To code it yourself, you need a software version around F056-15-03-XXX or later (mine is now the current F056-16-07-501) and HUD.

6 Parameters to change:
HU_NBT
HUD_SPORTANZEIGE_ENABLE
HUD_SPORTANZEIGE_FES_ENABLE
HUD_SPORTANZEIGE_MS_GASSE_ENABLE
Change all to aktiv

KOMBI
HUD_SPORTANZEIGE_ENABLE
HUD_SPORTANZEIGE_FES_ENABLE
HUD_SPORTANZEIGE_MS_GASSE_ENABLE
Change all to aktiv

Go into Head Up Display settings, then Displayed Information, and turn on Sport Display
EDIT: All working from doing the below - I either not went into the correct option to select the Sport Display or it appeared as an option later!

Just tried my first bit of coding and seems to have gone through with no problems to do the above.

This is the version

These are my steps -
Connected to ODB2-Ethernet
Launch E-sys Premium
Used connection button
Selected F056 (not Direct as in pdf)
Select Read for Coding (FA list showing)
Clicked Read (ECU)
Selected HU_Entrynav for the CAFD edit (HU_NBT was found in this CAFD edit)

Edited like below-

Then went to Kombi (read coding data)

and changed settings as below

Once finished I saved the settings

Then activated FA

Selected HU_EntryNAV CAFD file I changed and clicked on Code FDL button

Then Selected Kombi CAFD file I changed and clicked Code FDL button

All seems to have gone through OK no errors

I am having problems locating the correct CAFD file. I do not see the same modules as shown in the coding guide. I was looking for CAS but it's not listed.

*edit*
I was able to locate the CAFD files I wanted to code. It took some time searching, but they are there.

Thank you, Greg, for all the advice.

This is what I am seeing in my BDC module:

3062 - MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_1_V_L_OUTPUT
3062 - MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_1_V_R_OUTPUT

The options to change to are tfl_l and tms_leuhtring_l

When selecting tfl_l the werte automatically changes to 03
When selecting tms_leuhtring_l the werte automatically changes to 30

I tried both options - no dice.

My build date is April 2016. I am using the current esys software and psdzdata files.

Any help would be appreciated

i would go into BDC and at the top, type "MAPPING_TAGFAHRL_1_H_L_OUTPUT" in the search. i'm on a July 2016 update and i just did the search and found it.

i took a screenshot below...

Still can't figure out where I'm going wrong on this.

I know the cable is good because I've used it with my work laptop (which has an ethernet port) with success. I know the USB 3.0 to ethernet adapter is good b/c it functions just fine when plugged into the router here in the house. The laptop is a HP Spectre running Windows 10, company laptop is a Dell M4600, Windows 7.

I tried again today - following my normal routine that works with the company laptop. Plug cable in, plug cable into laptop. Fire up car - launch e-sys - connect. But when I get to the connect portion it never autofills out any of the information that normally shows up there - and the OK is greyed out. Shut off e-sys, waited a bit - re-launched e-sys, - same result.

Wifi was off - tried all 3 USB ports

Would prefer to use my personal laptop since its lightweight and much easier to carry to the garage.

Any ideas?

F57 Coding

I recently coded my 2016 F57 (no F57 forum yet). I bought the OBD to ethernet cable on e-bay for 19.95 including shipping (it came codemycar.com, but is not shown on their website). I bought a software package from codingf10.com for 49.95 (covers all E &F- series BMW and all R and F series MINIs. The download of all the software and data files too a while. I got instructions from codingf10.com and codemycar.com and this forum. I used the tested list of safe codes from f56codinglist@gmail.com. The coding program is in English, but the codes are in German, so follow the tested list closely. I also coded my wife's BMW 328i. I hope to be able to code my convertible top to go up and down with one-touch rather than having to hold the switch the entire time. I was not able yet to find those codes if the even exist. The hardest job was finding the right spot to make changes because there are thousands of possible places, most would probably not good to change.
