If the weather holds I'm planning on a potential day of lapping for me and my MINI.

Winter rules are the same equipment needed for lapping, helmet, YR 2000 or better recommended, suggested long cotton pants and long sleeve cotton shirt.

Winter hours on Saturday 10-4:30 (track hot) cost $100. no half day price.

Track opens at 9, with a meeting at 9:30 or 9:45. See link below.

They will cancel the lapping day if they do not get 10 participants.

I will not sign up on the HPR site until at least Tuesday, watching the weather. If it is in the 50s and partly sunny, I plan on going over for laps.

I think Umberto is going to bring out the JCW with RE11s, if everything works out. I think he might even drive it out, versus trailer it out. :sly: :razz:

I was stuck halfway through the drive and the engine was fried... Long story short, I am back in Denver and need to get my car up and running. (There is more to the story, but it would sound like a bad country song, and I am more into solving a problem then looking for sympathy).

I've had two different mechanics (one a family member) take a look at the car and they both said the best option would be to do an engine swap. I've been able to find engines online in the range of 2500-3000 dollars some with great warranties, but I just wanted to know if you guys had any advice as to what to look for when buying an engine. Remanned, used, etc...

Also, I will be picking up the Bentley service manual and attempting the long block swap myself. Are there any special tools or things I need to take into account? I am very mechanically inclined, but I've never attempted a job this large before. I am confident I can do it, but would like to do all the necessary research and do it right. Also, if someone in the area would like to help me, I can offer you some really cheap air fairs anywhere in the world. My benefits expire at the end of November though, and you fly standby, but if you fly before Thanksgiving, this is the slowest time of the year.

Tentative Schedule:
* meet up @ 11:00am
* converse / grab a QUICK lunch / mingle till ~12:30pm or so
* hold drivers meeting for drive @ 12:45pm
* leave for drive @ ~1:00pm
* Expect a drive into the foothills and into some higher elevation cities; weather / climate / conditions can change drastically.

PLEASE come with a positive attitude; many are meeting each other for the first time.
We don't anyone to crash the fun in the first part of the year... that's never good!

NOTE There will be no reservations set; this will be a "free-for-all" event.

NOTE: Also, there will be a few OBDII VAG-COMs and other scanners being brought if you need a scan. Just ask and we'd be glad to help fellow owners out.

We'll meet at Detailer's Paradise map on November 29th around noon, cruise the city for about an hour and then grab some food. What could be better?
