I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my bouncing new MINI, and I'd like to see pics of clear paint protection (ClearShield, Clearbra, etc) installed on your BRG MINI.

I'd like to see how visible it is when installed professionally, how it looks if you put it on over stripes, etc.

Thanks!

I've looked at the set up, and I cant figure out a way of moving the controls elsewhere. I saw someone do it with the cruise control, so there must be a way. This DOES NOT have to look wonderful. Can someone with better electrical understanding give me any ideas? I really want the different wheel, and it all hinges on this.

Amy wants a roof rack for her Electric Blue 2004 MCS hard top (with sun roof). I like the look of the Thule unit, but most of the installs I see here have the big honking faring, which I don't particularly like. My questions are:

 1. Can the rack be used without the faring?

Amy wants a roof rack for her Electric Blue 2004 MCS hard top (with sun roof). I like the look of the Thule unit, but most of the installs I see here have the big honking faring, which I don't particularly like. My questions are:
2. Can the sun roof open and close as normal with the rack in place?
3. Are there any attachments (cargo unit, bike rack, etc.) that interfere with the sun roof operation?
4. Besides a bike rack, are there any "must have" add-ons that people really use and like? For example, the cargo-pod thingie looks really goofy, but if it really adds a lot of convenient storage then it might be someting to try.
5. Any issues de-installing them? Scratched paint, etc.?

Thanks!

Old to new Shift Knob...

I have a 2002 R53 and the shift knob is looking a little worn.

I purchased another Mini shift knob with the newer design (chrome ring, inset gear numbering)..

To remove the old knob, all you have to do is pull straight up? Will the newer knob fit no problem (no changes to the lock mechanism?)?

For FREE!

Well almost

I ran into a friend today, who used to own 2 MINIs and somehow ended up with an Aero Front bumper that never made it onto either one of them.

He said if I did some photography for him, I could just take it. Couldnt pass the offer up.

Going to the body shop on Monday for a quote to paint it.

My '05 MCS came without factory stripes on it and I thought I might give it a whirl and make my own (I work at a sign shop with plenty of vinyl access) and try out different color schemes, etc. I want to use the factory stripes as a template so I was hoping somebody might have some measurements for the length and width of the factory stripes? I am going to lay some practice pieces on the car to see if there is any bend to the stripes or if they are just straight when you buy them and conform to the hood as you lay them down. If anybody has any measurements and can help it would be greatly appreciated. I've done some searches but I've only come up with threads looking for measurements on the hood to lay them down straight. Also if anyone happened to have any pics of the stripes before they were applied (if you bought them, etc.) that would be great. Thanks in advance!

OK, installed my Euro armrest today; the one with the feet that attach via the seat rail screws.

However, after tightening the bolts down as tight as I could get them with my Torx driver, the seat rails are still appearing to hover above the floor about a half inch in the back. Is this normal with the seat rails now sitting atop the armrest's footplates? I even hopped on each seat a little with my 200# self to try to ensure a full "seating" of each rail onto the foot.

Thanks!
