I figured this would be more suited in the suspension thread as I have been a lurker on here for about a year. Normally I am a post whore by day when I owned my VW Corrado, but I seem to stick in the shadows now.

Anyways, I purchased my Mini Cooper S in Dark Silver the day after Christmas in 2008. Was the greatest Christmas present I have given myself!!

I wanted to post up a few pics (theyll be up shortly I need to re-install Lightwave since I just installed Windows 7), of my mini that is now on H&R coils and Maxxim (Konig) 18x7.5 with 215/40/18 Falken 512 tires.

One thing that I also wanted to ask was I noticed after coilover install, as most people report anymore, I have the vibration/shimmy when accelerating in lower gears. Im not THAT low, but it seems to have come back since the wheels last night.

One thing that I noted was that the upper strut attachment (for camber) had shifted since I installed the coils. You can clearly see this by the way the nut was holding on the paint, and is now visible when you look at it. I had torqued them to the factory specs....should I lift my car and adjust this back?!

Thanks

Hey folks... its about time to look into new wheels for my car.
currently running: 205/45/17 ET:UNKNOWN?

I am looking at Team Dynamic pro race 1.2 on outmotorings website and there are a lot of options.

Ill keep my questions short and to the point.

1. Will 215 or width tires fit 17x7, 17x8, and 18x8

2. Are 215 too wide? i do plan and dropping/like to have option to drop car

2. Are 215 too wide? i do plan and dropping/like to have option to drop car

3. Are 215/45/17 or 214/40/18 even popular/recommended sizes?

4. What offsets should i consider if i want to purchase 17x8 or 18x8... I know 45mm is a good start but if the tires are wider... possibly 40mm? spacers? keep in mind, i do plan on dropping in the future

The reason i want 18s is that the TD look way too much like stock gti wheels. I figure with a larger wheel with a shorter sidewall will keep things fresh... yes i understand the lack of possible performance gains from increasing size, but perhaps the increase in width will make up for some of the losses...
criticism is always welcome...

edit: just did some research and saw someone had sold his 18x8 (et45?) wheels with 225/35/18s dropped on h&rs... sounds a bit extreme but looks amazing... anything less extreme?

Does anyone have these sitting out or whatever and can measure them?

I would like to know what is the best coilovers available for my 09 JCW. I want something that would be an everyday driver, but at the same time, 4-6 times of the year would be able to use it at the track, lower and harder.

Please let me know from the best to least and best for the price as well. I have already got 25mm sway bar, end links on the car.

Looking around, though, all of the suspension mods for the MINI are to lower it, not raise it, so I can't just go to MINI Mania and buy the kit :-(
Any suggestions?
