The service adviser said their loaner mini was like that too. This is my second mini, the first was a Cooper S, this is a Clubman S. I swear I have never noticed this before. Has anyone else??

Hi Guys, I have a problem here and need help and advice.

I have just changed my R56 MCS Front Brake pad to orginal Perforated Disc and Disc pad. Rear Brake pad.

After changing it, i feel that my brake is quite spongy.I have to depress the padel quite deep to get the brake in.. Isit normal? Is there any run-in i have to do after a new pad change?

Thank you so much!

Hello,

The heating fan/blower has stopped working in our 2008 Cooper S over the weekend. Took it to the dealer to get it checked out this morning and they told me the fan is dead. They ordered the part and it will be covered by the warranty. However, I was curious if anyone has had a similar issue? Is this a random issue or actually something more serious/a known weakness?

Thanks,
Dertef

Two weeks ago, the red scary LOW TIRE light came on in my '09 JCW Clubman. I checked the tire pressure, everything was hunky dory so I reset the monitor. But then, a day later, it came on again. Tires were still fine, but when I reset the light, it came on again about 25 minutes later. From them on, resetting it wouldn't even make the light go away for more than ten seconds.

So I took it to my dealer. In about 45 minutes they looked at it, concluded the tires were fine, did some mysterious "ultra" reset, and drove it around the block to confirm the light went off. So I went on my happy way.

Five days later, the same thing started happening again. I begin to wonder if I have a bad wheelspeed sensor or the monitoring system is bad. Take it to the dealer again (seven days after my first visit). The service guy says they checked the wheelspeed sensor and it was fine. His theory was that I was driving over "odd terrain" like flying off speed bumps and over huge gaps that was causing the wheels to spin briefly at different speeds and confuse the system. I didn't find that too plausible. That sounds like a random, independent cause. If it were true, wouldn't resetting the tire pressure light keep it off, I asked. He dismissed my theory and I went on my way.

Sure enough, two days later, the unblinking light of nagging doom is back staring at me. Anyone have a similar problem?

A few weeks ago I added a CLD (like Dynamat) to the interior door skin and panels, requiring removal of the interior trim piece and the whole door panel (except the window mechanism, which I worked around). There was no rattle, then it suddenly appeared a few weeks later!

So I went back in there, checked everything I could think of, and saw nothing unusual. Taped down any loose wires I could see, and still... the rattle!

What did I miss or forget to check? Any ideas what this could be? Could the window be vibrating in the mechanism?

edit: I would take this to the dealer, but... I don't know if they'd cover it after I swapped out the speakers and took the doors apart

Hey guys,

I live in australia, and I need a specific part for my R56 JCW. The part is a clip that holds the crankcase ventilation hose onto the rocker cover (Part number: 13717570673), and the BMW dealerships here only sell the whole hose, which is US$70. RealOEM lists the clip for $1.70. Are there any places that would ship me OEM parts?

Thanks in advance,
Elie

... they don't have a dealer section on the board so i didnt know where else to post this...

In any event, I'm at Crevier Mini/BMW to drop off the JCW for it's 15,000 mile service today in addition to my shift knob falling off and the cold start chatter issue. They provide me a loaner 328 for the day.

We walk out to the car to do the customary inspection, everything checks out and the gal says "OK, let's just turn on the engine to VERIFY the fuel level". The paperwork says there should be 3/4 of a tank. It's actually around 5/8th full. She says "OK there's 3/4 of a tank". I wouldn't think it would be an issue accept the last time I dropped off a loaner, I was right under the stated tick mark and received a $9.00 charge on my credit card for gas. That time, ok.. it was my fault, and I was running late so I didn't care. But this was not cool... so I say to her "Uhhh, well there is actually less than 3/4 of a tank, see?" She goes on to tell me that they round up on the gas chart. Huh? So I say again, "But you are telling me I'm responsible for 3/4 of a tank, but there's not even 3/4 of a tank." She says again, yes... that's because we round up. So I tell her "So you are saying, that if I returned this car RIGHT NOW, without even driving the car off the lot, you are going to charge me because I am short of 3/4?" She shrugs, and says, "The paperwork says 3/4 so I can't change it." Isn't that why I turned on the car in the first place??? To VERIFY the fuel? Anyways, we go back and forth, and I need to get to work so I just drive off... absolutely ridiculous.

It's really not the money... What could it be at most, $10? But the thought of how they are squeezing you is so blah... When my wife get's her loaners from Fletcher Jones MB, or when I get a loaner from Tustin Lexus, we NEVER EVER EVER have had to deal with this. Are they SO desperate in a down economy that they have to pull the shaft on everyone with a loaner? Is it because I drive a Mini JCW and not a M5? Why should that matter? Overall, it's not a big deal, but it is kind of annoying... I am starting to remember why I have always had my reservations about Crevier. I'm just sad that I actually recently referred a friend to them who bought a 750....

I live 140 miles from Mini Scottsdale (the closest dealer) so Mini sends a flatbed to pick it up and take it in. Turns out the service guys said the ECU needed to be reset :sly: I said what did you do disconnect the battery??? yes was the answer but now it's fine and then he said I would call it a "computer hicup". Btw they picked it up friday at 3:30 and dropped it off yesterday at 3:00 (2.5 hour drive each way)
The car had 364 miles on it. Just thought I would pass it on.
In non-BMW talk, it is P0301, sometimes generates a CEL. Visited the mini dealer in Pleasanton, CA., and got a new high pressure fuel pump (13.51.7.588.879=$895.78). In 1 3/4 hours, I was headed home. My partner says, “it (‘08 MCS H/B, 15K) is back to normal’. She’s welcome, I’ll stick to my turbo-diesel.
