When I go over a medium size bump or turn sharply my engine service light, ABS and tire inflation lights come on. If I stop, turn it off and back on everything resets. There seems to be no problems, but the lights come on
very easily over a simple bump and stay on until the ignition is turned off.

My 2005 cabrio has only 18,000 miles. Put the top down and heard a loud crunch. When I put it up the inside sides behind the rear windows were all detached and broken plastic fell into the back seat. I guess the inside of the top got caught when it went down and broke just about eveyrthing.

Anybody had any experience with this? Can it be fixed myself? It looks like I will ned to take all the canvas off and totally replace the inside side wings.

Just saw this at California dealers- CPO 2008 MINI Cooper S Convertible - $21993.

Maybe someone can negotiate even lower price or some free goodies. The only downside is it appears to have Automatic transmission, but still - good deal.

If I was in the market for one - I would get it myself.

Hey all
My wife's tires are getting worn out and I'm wondering if it makes any sense to upgrade to 17" at the same time? I would like to see a wider and slightly larger wheels on her silver convertible, as the 15" stocks look very small :)

I've found a very good deal on a set of 2003 S-lite wheels ($160 for all 4) 17X7".

Would there be any major negatives to this?

Numbers below are taken from this place:

Hey all,

So heres the scoop, hubby buys me a 2006 mini cooper s convertible for 10 yrs of putting up with him..

I saw the car on ebay at infinity of Oakland, showed my hubby the car. " I would like something like this, you sweet thing"

So we go out try a few used ones round about, but they were not in as good condition or they were not S. Then I come across the car again on cars.com with sale pending. I mention it to my hubby and he then admits its him. I told him to bid for it on ebay as they have buyer protection.

We then send my cousin out to test drive it.....he drove round the street not at any great speed neither. The guy shows the tires are new "look he says" cousin looks at tires he is pointing at. OHHHHHHH cool.

Cousin says yeah its fine looks good...(must mention cousin is ski instructor:eek2:) So hubby goes down to oakland, gets shown same tire. Pays cash for the car, arranges shipping to WA state.

Car arrives and i jump for joy  give my hubby lots of lovin...We then take it to mini dealers to have a minor repair done...I noticed that when we drove there that things were falling out of the cup holder, the gps fell off its stand...small stuff like that. So I mention it to mini dealer, they call back a few days later you have 3 bold tires:eek2: and the suspension needs replacing.

So we get estimates for repair and send it off to shaun our sales guy...
no reply....call, oh Shaun no longer works here... So we then try to get in touch with anyone...finally we get the general manager....Hey did you get our estimate...who should I address the bill too. The GM says " I am not paying anything you bought the car AS IS....which is true. However its does not give you the right to sell us a damaged car....with three bold tires.
Well the shipper did it..:eek2: we would never sell a car with three bold tires and a damaged suspension...
So here we are with a mini I cannot drive until I get 4 new tires and have the suspension done...which we will get done shortly...However I thought I would share my story with you as a lesson learned...we are fighting it but who knows what will happen....but definatly be wary of infinity of oakland, stupid husbands and Transport drivers lol.
Any advice would be most welcome.

Quick question: My first two tanks on the new-to-me Mini and they were 20 and 19 MPG. I mean, wow, my 2003 C-class got a steady 29MPG every tank.

Still, instead of complaining, I wanted to check and see if there is a problem, or if this is just the way it goes. My mini is an S, cabrio, automatic, with a CAI and a 15% pulley. Will those factors make the MPG so low on their own?
Would a tune or ECU refresh or something get it back on track? Just curious.

That's all for now - it's 74 here, and I need some top-down time

My next visit to the dealer I will bring this up. Is this normal on the mini cabrio?

Another, which I believe has the impact from the problem above, is that the rear defogger doesn't seem to work. I can only imagine that the abrassion would probably cause the defogger circuit cut off. If so, and I need to replace my rear window, is this gonna cost me a fortune to get it fixed?
Do I have to replace my entire top?

Thanks in advance for the infos that you're about to share!

I am not aiming for speed but for lots of torque and acceleration.
Whatever way you recommend, it seems getting a complet KIT seems difficult.

I have a pesky, elusive rattle when my sunroof is open (in any position). It's on the driver side only at the front corner of the mechanism where the rollers and slides are. Every road bump puts an annoying  clicky-clack right in my ear. I thought the plastic guard was loose, but the problem is deeper. Attempts to reproduce the rattle when the car is stopped have been less than productive.

Has anyone had and solved this issue? Thanks for any advice.

Good morning all!

Last night I drove up to MD to meet with CR&PW&JB (Chris) and purchase his JB cabrio, which you all may know better as "Dr. Evil"! I don't have any photos of my own yet, but I'm sure you've all seen the threads where Chris detailed out this immaculate car and the various things he's done to it over the years. This car is in superb shape for being nearly 5 years old, and only has 43k on the clock.

It's my first softtop, but *not* my first convertible, oddly enough - I have had a Chevrolet SSR (folding hardtop) and also a couple Corvettes with targa tops (not technically convertibles, though). I wish today's weather was going to be like yesterday's so I could drop the top after work, but looks like I may have to wait a couple days for that!

I am debating keeping the name Dr. Evil, but have other options in mind as well... While I love the car as Chris modded it, it might be due for some me-ification, as these things tend to be.

I've got a shopping list that's getting longer by the day (ipod adapter or new head unit, storage armrest, etc), but this car even came with a few extras I didn't know about at first! (Euro parcel shelf, between-seats windblocker, already programmed for convenience opening...)

All I know right now is my GF is jealous (partially because her baby - her Audi TT - is in the shop right now) and my commute in this morning was pretty much all smiles. I've given the old Corvette-guy two-finger wave to a couple Minis already this morning on the road, but I don't think they reciprocated; maybe "the wave" isn't terribly common in Minis like it is in Vettes and Jeeps?

At any rate - you'll definitely see me around asking dumb questions like I have been for a couple weeks now.

Let's Motor!
