Importing EU spec MINI to CA

Hi,

Can anybody share experiences from importing an EU spec/tuned MINI to California?

I just heard some pretty scary comments today re. CA emission controls.

I have a '05 MCS JCW (R53) in Poland/EU with quite a few extras...

John Cooper Works (JCW) 210hp Package
JCW catback (kink/flat part removed)
JCW air intake (flap and mechanical parts removed) + Mini Madness JCW intake filter kit
JCW 380cc injectors
JCW spark plugs
Alta -17% s/c pulley
GTT Exhaust Manifold
GTT Intercooler + Snoot boots
RMW cylinder head
RMW camshaft

Now wondering if it would be easier to just get back to stock JCW, sell the car put the goodies into the move load and buy a used R53 over there...

Any comments are most welcome!

Thanks,
Sam

Check with the DMV

but I do think it's a pain in the butt. You'll have to change your gauges and ODO to miles and see if the emissions systems are "50 state legal". While I think they are close, you'd have to do some digging.

I'd strip the aftermarket parts off, get it back to stock, bring the parts over, and put them on a car here.....
