How do you ship a classic Mini to the States?

Has anyone had an experience shipping a classic mini from London to the States? Tips/suggestions?

Can you recommend how to make arrangements to do so? Websites?

Is it true that it could potentially cost the same amount of money to ship 2 minis (as opposed to just 1) since they would be in the same carrier that would hold a standard vehicle?

I know someone in MN who had a classic shipped over last year. I'll contact her and let you know...

If new to importing/exporting automobile, my advice would be to contact your local shipping agents. ie: freight forwarders

edit: Oh, I just found this thread check it out if you havent already.

Lots of good experiences from others shipping Minis with Phoenix cargo but I did not use them. Check the classic forums for more info. The thread above is a good start.

Two years ago from Southhampton, UK to Newark, NJ - RORO was about $1100

Working with the person who built my classic in the UK I used Barton freight.

Just call phoenix aircargo and be done with it, they can collect the car (even pay for the car for you for a small fee) and deliver it to the docks, take care of all paperwork and even find you a broker on your end (recommended) I have shipped dozens upon dozens of minis from UK to USA> For ease of use I recommend them.
