MCAW problem (big problem)

HEllo,
i wanted to start small on my mods so i bought a MCAW and AUX/ipod adapter to install. I have a 05 MCS.

i installed the circuit for the MCAW fairly easily, and could never get the windows into "program mode". after 20 or so tries, i said hell with it and hooked the stock connector back up. at one point the windows would roll up and down on their own, with or without the key in the ignition.

after turning the car on, heres what works:
unlock/lock
windows(normal)
parking lamps
interior lamps
radio/CD
wipers
dash lights (complete)

heres what doesnt work:
headlights
AC/fan nothing (and i mean NOTHING.)
dash guages, speed, tach, fuel, temp, (all light up but no movement)

checked all fuses inside and under the bonnet. none blown.

whats next? dealer? rape?
am i the only one that can screw up such an easy mod? answer: yes.

cheers,
davo

Odd. You reconnected the stock wiring and all of this isn't functioning.

You might consider pulling your battery for a few minutes to see if whatever happened can reset.

Hey Davo,

I had a problem during my MCAW install.. Check your fuses. I popped a 15 amp fuse while moving around in the cramped center console space..

i did the battery test to try and reset, nothing happened.

i checked the fuses, unless its ever so slight i couldnt see any burns, breaks. of course this was done by eye.... nothing official yet.

davo, take a known good fuse & use it to test each circuit. I've had fuses that looked good & that turned out to be bad. My best guess is there is a bad fuse.

Good luck.

The symptoms sound the same as this: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=73638
It turned out to be fuse f39, and also from an auto-up install.

Just closing the loop on this thread. Davo reported to me that fuse F39 and F40 (5 ampers) were blown. Replacing them corrected his concerns.

Thanks-
Randy
