Will do.
Although it probably wont be until later tomorrow at earliest. I need to format an old laptop and install windows XP x86 on it. All these programs are so old and require an old OS to work properly.
So I need to install everything freshly onto it and then I will give it a shot and will send screenshots.

I've read that the FRM has circuit fault counters which can be reset.
Here is a detailed post on the topic

This is the toolset I was planning on installing.
http://blog.obdtool.co.uk/free-downl...ding-software/
The ones which came with the OBD cable looks like it was made for NT and are mostly in Chinese...

Try downloading them on win7 if you can and see if they work unless you have xp ready to install. when I get home, I'll check to see what versions i have of INPA, Winkfp, and NCS.

Just to update the thread:
So I was able to connect to my Mini's modules using different apps. Mainly Rheingold's ISTA D and P. The FRM module comes up red and with no communication.

I have a used FRM on order.

I ordered it on this Monday. I hope before this weekend. I'm not 100% sure since they never sent me a tracking number and I don't want to call them yet and ask them if they shipped it. I don't like being one of those people.

I ordered it from here:
LKQ-Keystone- Mid-America Auto Parts USA-KS(Topeka) E-mail 1-800-627-2100

Man I am so bored at work right now. I would much rather be home working on my Mini. Or even home cutting my lawn! Yea its that bad
This sucks.

I broke the rear brake pad sensor changing the rear brakes this weekend. Already ordered the replacement sensor. they are quite cheap.
But I don't imagine its going to be fun or easy to replace it.

Also found a few other errors (yellow modules) through Rheingold's software. Would love to do an update to the Mini's software.
Also ordered 2 new cam position sensors and will change those out as soon as I have a chance.
Got them from eEuroparts for quite cheap as well.

Ok I just called and got the tracking number. It is arriving by tomorrow. So YES! I will have it for this weekend.

When I get it, should I install it right away? Or wait to install it when we can program it?

Everything you are describing is the same thing that happen to me. Just that when my frm went i had the windows open, after you replace and program it, everything is going to go away. i personally don't think you need the same number just any as long as is frm 3 ect will work.

Do you know why your FRM went bad?

I think mine went bad because my negative cable to my battery was just a little bit loose.
Not loose enough to come off, but I can move it left and right by hand.

I can't think of any other reason. My FRM physically looks brand spanking new.
Wish there was a way to diagnose it and somehow reflash it or something. Just feels like such a waste.

I swear, starting a FRM repair business is a good idea.
These little things go bad for no good reason. And from reading about it online, it's a regular failure on all Minis and BMWs.
Shops don't repair them, just replace. And I found no online repair service, it's all DIY. And most people are not tech savvy enough to even attempt this.

I might try this, like buy 10 of them and have whoever needs a repair fly me over to their town. I know this wont be a main source of living, but sure can provide some pocket change which will be spent on my Minis...
Oh by the way i take paypal

Yea and get to travel for free!
I don't expect to get anything for free and I can't even imagine how much I am saving due to your help. We will definitely work something out. No doubt.
There is definitely money to be made by doing this.

I am excited, to say the least, to get the FRM in today. Its so hot here, but I got the rear brake sensor in yesterday so I will go ahead and try to fix that during the day. And am totally excited to install the new FRM and update my Minis SP-Daten later.

The cam position sensors are due in tomorrow, but that is an easy job.

lol...yes, one thing at a time, sometime you get so many "projects" you end up not getting a chance to do any...I'll txt you when I get home. I can also program your sunroof to tilt in one touch, and open in one touch, same with closing

When I push the sunroof once it opens the back for both, then after I need to hold it to open. That does not take away the first push does it?
I would also love to get rid of the passenger seat chime if that's possible. Goes off every time I put w bag or even my iPhone on the passenger seat. I need to pull the seatbelt snd click it, it's kind of annoying. I read somewhere that it's doable.

I decided to stay home today from work to at least fix the brake sensor. It's causing errors that are easy to fix for me alone.

When it comes to the software and FRM programming. I am available at your convenience.

HaveATank wanted that chime removed also. We have to look into it a little deeper. I am not sure if disabling it will tell the module that the seat is unoccupied at all times or not. since it is a safety issue, I would rather if you just keep it for now and use the seat belt to silence it.

Changed the rear brake sensor. Apparently I can't reset the brake light using the trip button because the FRM is bad. It's just not responding.
That FRM screws up lots of things.

Edit: 5 minutes later, it must have diagnosed itself and the brake light turned off on its own. Yay for things working!
