Electrical Mini R52 Sirius retrofit.

Mini R52 Sirius retrofit.
The retrofit kit for the convertible contains
1) A box for under the passenger seat
2) A bracket
3) A bag of fixings
Since I already have the HK audio, I already had the box, plus there wasn't enough space for the sirius connectors to get into the box through the waterproof plug.
So I decided to install it in the boot, plus that's where the CDC connections are. Others have put theirs on top of the rear wheel. I went for the side wall.
It was necessary to adjust the wiring harness position by about an inch and I removed the trunk entry trim to do so.
For the antenna, I ran the coax up the passenger side, up the A pillar, along past the rear view mirror and the aftermarket antenna is on the drivers' side on the roof for a better signal. I wanted to add it into the AM/FM antenna but so far I've not been able to get the Fakra connector through the alu base.
I used this antenna. Works best with a clear sky view and a metal base (the roof) to resonate against. i have OEM Sirius in my X3 (which you can see in one of the pics above). When I park in my garage, the Mini holds the signal for longer, so there is no problem with signal strength even though it's an XM antenna.
I had it on the passenger side for a while, however overhanging trees gave me dropout, so I moved to to the driver side where there are usually less trees.
