Same here - old Acer laptop with Windows XP. The only thing left to try is my Mac with VM, see if that would make any difference.

I've install the drivers and the software following the steps in the guide and everything looks fine until connecting to the car. At first when I connect it the red light on the cable itself comes on and when I try INPA it says the ignition is off although it's on on the car. Then couple of minutes later the light on the cable goes off and when trying INPA again it reads battery and ignition just fine. But then NCS is giving me a faulty VIN error.

Any ideas? Is it the cable or something I'm doing wrong with the installation ?
By the way anyone one in North Atlanta area done some coding ?

Just an update if someone's having a similar problem. It turned out to the be the cable. Got a new one with a green board and bam, worked right away.

Includes R56 DATENS v58.1, Far easier setup and installs fine on Win7 64bit under a VM on a Mac. I am able to get the correct connection via INPA now.

The cable was working a year ago but the laptop and NCSExpert install I was using are long gong. The car was flashed about six months ago at the dealership.

I am however getting the "VIN Invalid" error when trying to read the VIN in NCSExpert. The INPA screen looks fine. I've tried different COM ports and updated the INI file each time.
Did you set the latency to 1 on the COM port?

After spending a number of hours playing with FRM module settings, I finally got the DRLs to light only the city lights! This process was aided by a post by strobey-probey in a thread about city lights as DRLs on Canadian R60s. Please note the specifics below:

Enviromental:
MINI: USA 2012 CMS (Canadian R60s will need to have their VO changed to reflect a USA version - thanks strobey-probey!)
Build Date: Nov 7, 2011
Headlamps: Xenon
Datens: V46. Those with newer datens should be ok as the settings listed below should be present in your FRM module's FSW_PSW.TRC file. I'm not sure whether these settings will be the same in pre-V46 datens, but most likely so.
Misc: Must have working cable and (preferably) NCSExpert programming experience. These instructions assume that you know how to successfully code your R60 with NCSExpert.

Requirements/suggestions before beginning:
1. The DRL option should be activated in the BC;
2. The headlamp setting should be set to "off" for programming, but then you can set it to "Auto" afterwards;
3. Fully read this post before beginning;
4. Plan and document your work (OCD Club Members Unite!).
5. Post if this works for you!

FRM Settings:
VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL_3R drl_s // This setting turns-off the low beam headlamps.
Note: after this setting was made, wheel arch lights, rear taillights and license plate light were still on.

DRL_TFL_MIT_KZL nicht_aktiv // This setting turns-off the license plate lights.
Note: after this setting was made, license plate lights were turned-off but taillights were still on. In fact, the lower taillight in each lens glowed brightly at brake light intensity, the upper taillights were at normal intensity, however. Odd.

DRL_TFL_MIT_SL_1 nicht_aktiv // These settings turned-off the left and right wheel arch lights and
DRL_TFL_MIT_SL_2 nicht_aktiv // lower taillights.
Note: After this setting was made, the upper taillights were still on. According to NCSDummy, the "SL" means "standing lights", so the bright lower taillights may be in standing light mode.

DRL_TFL_MIT_BL nicht_aktiv // This setting turned-off the the upper taillights.

And, finally…

DRL_TFL_MIT_SML_3R aktiv // This setting turned-on the city lights!

Other stuff:
- I made these changes one-by-one. After each change, I exited NCSExpert and turned-off the R60. Then I turned the R60 back on and checked the status of the lights to make sure that the desired effect had been achieved. I suspect that all these edits could be made and programmed in one step, but I thought that I'd just let you know the way in which I did them.

- I never had to touch the companion settings in the CAS module.

- Today I tested the function of the lights in "Auto" mode as they switched between DRL illumination and night illumination. Perfect!

Have fun...
It's a great post! I'm very interesting to do this, but I don't have DRL option in the BC ,how to activat this function ? add DRL VO code first?

You don't need DRL option to do this, but look for TAG_LICHT_AN and TAG_LICHT_AUS on KOMBI, set them to aktive and i'll have option to turn on/off on the BC.

Really wanting to recode the 2012 CM I just picked up but seems a little sketchy and not a tech guru. So before I try and probably fail miserably is there anyone near Colorado Springs that would wanna help me out or have a set up and wanna show me. I'm more then willing to compensate a little for your time. Thanks guys

Hey there, Noob here. Is there a way to set the passenger seat belt warning come on over 15lbs . My phone/sandwich/pretty much anything over 5oz sets off the passenger seat belt warning.

That being said. I want to try a few of these setting

Windows Up with Key Fob, will this work if you don't have a sunroof?

Passenger Mirror tilt when car is in reverse

Setting the Shift Points in AT to shift sooner

Auto Windows up when the door is open

Unlock car when car is off or when key fob is removed

Speedo Correction. It seems my speedometer will say 60mph but in actuallity (Via 2 different GPS Systems) it is actually 57mph (

it's your phone.
I can set my 5-10 lb bag of crap and other stuff in the seat no problem. if my phone is on the center of the cushion with any weight, it'll trigger the seat warning.

Pretty sure we can't code HVAC stuff but I would love one degree climate increments on the auto climate control.

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread!
I have a 2012 R60 with NAVI and connected.

Just updated all modules to the latest v59.1 spdaten.
Afterwards I used the information in this thread to do the following:
One touch open/close sunroof
Windows open/close when doors open
Key fob lock hold closes any open windows/sunroof
Turn off navigation screen legal disclaimer
(Tried to disable passenger seatbelt chime but not sure if this works yet)

That's about it for now. If there are any other useful options to mess with please do let me know to try them out

I need help with using DRLs on low beams and with all other exterior lights off.
I have configured all DRL_TFL option to no-active but parking lights (above fog lights) are always on when DRLs is active.
License plate, rear and dashboard lights successfully turned off.

All in no-active:

DRL_TFL_MIT_SL_2
DRL_TFL_MIT_KZL
DRL_TFL_MIT_SML_3R
DRL_TFL_MIT_BLK_V_GED
DRL_TFL_MIT_NSW
DRL_TFL_MIT_BL
DRL_TFL_MIT_SL_1
DRL_TFL_MIT_BFD

Any suggestion?

I could find the option PWM_SL_1_FKT_BL_TFL and it had the value wert_01
It was changed to wert_02, wert_03 and wert_04 (it seems the option only accepts this 4 values) and the Parking Lights were always on.
Additionally, I was trying the same change on the options:

PWM_SL_1_FKT_PARKL
PWM_SL_1_FKT_SL_TFL

with the same result (all the time low beams and parking lights on).

I tried another way by changing the option VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL from drl_l (low beams) to drl_s (selective). Both, low beams and parking lights, off.
I could enable every light (parking lights, rear upper lights, rear lower lights, license plate lights) but I could not enable low beams

I know there is "drl_h" option but i don't know what it means.

May be there is not possible to use low beams as DRLs without parking lights turned on?

I still can't get my adapter to work, I'm going to have to restart the entire process and try a newer datens (anyone know what page to find the download link on I've been through the last several without finding it).

Does anyone with the Carly know if you can use it to code for using just a simple lightning cable instead of a Y Cable with an iPhone? That'st he main thing I'd like to see.

I used Carly for my 2016 JCW CM with my iPhone on WiFi. I did the windows, mirrors, locks, radio, lights, and several other items. Easy to use and more options are offered each month
The only issue I had was, when start the process, I have to shut my iPhone off and back on, so it pairs with the Carly dongle.

What did you do to the radio? The biggest thing for me is to get the cable change working so I don't need to buy the new Y Cable

I made it so the radio stays on after the key is out or when the door is opened
I have the Carly APP and Carly Dongle, no wires, works off of WiFi

That sounds awesome but if I can't do what i want with it (Code the radio for using the digital input only) then it doesn't matter how cool or usable it is...

Does anyone have a link to the latest Datens?
