programmable flasher/brake lights

I want to install a Custom LED Programmable Flasher Relay
( http://www.customled.com/products/fl...clrelaypro.wmv)
into my 03s but I do not know which wire is for the brakes/turn signals or the best location to set it up. Anyone have ideas?

I tried the http://www.mcaw.info/wds/mini/us/r50/index.htm site but I kept getting a "Parsing Error" and it will not load correctly.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Here you go...

Center brake light - Black/yellow
Left Brake Light - Black/Green
Right Brake Light - Black/Blue

Turn indicator rear right - Blue/Brown
Turn indicator rear left - Blue/green

That do it?

Matt

ps, that video is really annoying! ;)

I am trying to add it to my LED 3rd brake light which is Brown (assuming its a power lead) and Black/yellow (assuming this is the ground). The wires on the programmable LED is Red, White and Black. Red is power (obviously) White is intermittent power and black of course is ground. The problem I am having is that I have tried every combination I can think of and the programmable led is not working. Just regular brake lights come on. Here is a picture to help (or confuse things).

Brown is ground

everywhere on the Mini. That should solve the problem. Hook the black wire to the brown, the black/yellow to the intermittant (control) wire, and dig up power from somewhere. Then you should be good to go!

Brown is ground? Huh...I guess that's a European thing. Made the switch and am looking for power from somewhere. Any thoughts? I was hoping to hook the red to black/yellow coming from the vehicle, the white to the black/yellow going to the LED.

Thanks again for your help. I have been on the internet for an hour looking for a wiring diagram. That is probably the hardest thing to find.

I'm betting...

that the module wants power all the time for it's little digital brain. The white is probably to hook up to the brake light wire to tell the little digital brain when to think.

There are tons of electronics in the rear passenger quarter panel. You could poke around there for a hot lead.

But before you get that far, just run a really long wire to something hot (battery or whatever) to test. Do you have the cig lighter socket in the back of your car? If so, you can test here with the key on. Make sure everything still works like we think it should before going to the trouble of routing all the wires. I hate it when I do a complicated wire routing job, knowing everything will work fine, and it doesn't. Test, test, test. Takes a bit of time on the front end, but saves tons of time overall!

OK

I just read the install manual here. You're right. The black wire should go to the brown ground on the Mini. The white to the LED and the Red to the Black/Yellow wire.

Set it in mode 1 for testing, and press the brake pedal. If nothing happens make sure you're getting 12 to the Black/yellow (see if it works with the stock light). If it works with the stock light but not when wired correctly, it may have been damaged by reverse powering (if so it's a crappy design. There's no excuse for that!)

I figured it out...and I am an IDIOT.

The red lead goes to the black/yellow from the vehicle. The white goes to the black/yellow wire going to the LED and of course the brown goes to the black. Works just fine. Looks cool too.

I would like to hook all of my brake lights up to this now that I know how to do it. Maybe this will get people to see that I am coming to a stop and they won't get so close. Then again, some are just born to be jerks.

thanks again for your help. and your right, the video is annoying.
