I am looking into putting a boost gauge in my car, since I have some mods done, and I like knowing whats going on in the enginebay, plus, lets face it, it's fun.
I'm not sure how useful the digital will be, boost fluxuates rather quickly, I'm debating if seeing a swooping arm like I have always seen in my old subaru's and honda modding days would be better than LED's. a digital read out is tempting though.
Its a lot easier to see changes in boost with an needle gauge than a digital one, but a digital gauge gives better instantaneous readings.
It depends on what you want to know........
I would stick with a needle gauge, fits in better with the OE gauges and looks less spaceship.....
I wound up going with the autometer analog gauge and could NOT be happier. I basically had the thought you stated when I was in the store about to make my purchase. I really just want to look down and get the gist, plus it looks close to stock.
all in I love my gauge, just need to tuck the wires :-)
