Replacing Factory AM antenna, with NMO mount?

1. Anyone done it?

2. If not but you've taken the antenna guts off of the roof, what size is the hole left behind?

Thanks for the info I took the antenna off today, and made some measurements, I was hoping for a circle, but it'll either be a tight but perfect fit, or too small I should be able to update on NMO fit quality by this weekend.

The size was almost dead on, but the hole needed slight rounding for everything to fit through but I got everything installed that I need.

What is that mount for? What's NMO? I'm sure it's completely obvious, but I can't figure it out!

NMO mount (new Motorola mount), for removable mobile antennas. Large threaded base for durability in wind.
I've got a HAM radio in the car that I use it for (can also be used for mobile GMRS radios, scanners, CBs radios, etc.), I've got a low profile antenna I screw right in and off I go. It's designed to be self sealing as well so I don't need to worry about water leaks, and if I'd like there's weather caps for it out there so I can easily effectively have an antenna delete for looks purposes.

Ahh... cool. antenna delete sounds interesting. Using it for GMRS radios might come in handy at MINI meets too. I've thought of putting in a CB before in hopes of learning where the speed traps were. I had one in my truck a while back and it took my mind off the long drives pretty well.
