Just finished installing mine after being directed to the DIY in the MODs forum listed as "AutoMeter Boost gauge for $70" (which has been there for quite awhile... and which several people had told me they had successfully followed)...
At this point everything seems to be working fine and I am getting what I think are good vacuum and boost readings as well and nothing abnormal in respect to the cars performance or functioning.
However, I would be interested to know why that install would be considered incorrect... and what the alternative install would be.
