Need help on the JOEY MOD!!!

Hi,
I tried to do the joey mod on my 03 Xenon headlights and it was unsuccessful.
Last time i did the joey mod on the R56 was so easy, so i thought the R53 would me the same, however i was wrong.
I put the whole unit inside the oven for 5 mins in 250 degrees. when i pulled it out and tried to get them apart, seem like the silicons were too old and wouldn't even MELT....I did that for a few time, but there was no useeeee.....

ANYBODY have a same problem? please help me out.
BESIDE.... PLease post some pictures for me to admire :D

thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuu

older R53s are known to be a pain in the ass to take apart. You usually have to use something like a dremel to cut them open, then reapply some new sealant. This is the only reason I went with tinting mine instead of Joey modding for the time being. It's not that they're old, it's just that MINI used a different sealant to put the R53s together. Once the R53s do get taken apart, modders sometimes have a fogging problem in them later on. This is why you don't see too many Joey Modded R53s, but more R56s. Good luck!

haha Dimi, you greek too? and no, not AEK, ΠΑΟΚ!!

keeping it on track, a joey mod is when the interior of the headlight housing has been painted with a high-temp paint to kill some more chrome:

people have had problems with fogging?

the headlights arent sealed so why would there be those issues? only if the sealant wasnt applied liberally and water was getting into the light would there be any condensation build up from inside.

I too was unsuccesful getting my 03 Xenon's open. I guess the glue is so old or maybe a different but those thangs wont come apart . I ordered vinyl from Vinyl Styles and tinted them instead. If you decide to go this route your gonna need 3 people to do a good job. One person on hairdryer duty and two stretching the vinyl over the headlight. I only had one friend so they are not as peffect as I would like.
